He also brought Will Boyle on at Preston in his first season. He came on in the 90th minute and his error cost us a goal in the 91st! Ha! Victim of circumstance. Is he still playing for the U-21s? Playing League 2 now, moved to Cheltenham on a permanent.

Seem to remember the rumour mill doing rounds that DW wouldn't agree to new contract if AM wasn't signed for the PL campaign? I'm sure DH would have made an impossible to refuse contract to NW if DW wanted him to. Owner and manager in agreement I believe.

Grass a certain length ? Well I have heard it all now, so league 1 players and championship players etc cope fine with the usual grass, but Premier league players must have it a certain length? The premier does'nt have take itself way too serious, another case of over the top pampering.

Or perhaps just aiming for consistency so the weaker teams can't leave the grass too long to thwart a slick passing game?

Dean mentioned the pitch last night. Too narrow for Premier League but we've been given special dispensation for a season. Groundsman under pressure to improve standard from last yearIt might help if they refrain from trying to make it look like Blackpool beach every December/January.

Aye, well, in terms of any discernible volume, we're speaking maybe 10 years or so ago (the "Young Guns), but that was in the third division. Agree it was a bit puzzling with DW's strategy of not introducing youngsters with 3-4 games to go at the end of last season, but maybe he thought it was a matter of keeping the momentum for players going into the play-off squad.Difficult one; but some clubs must be doing something right with their academies (England are surprisingly the current European U-19 champions, after all) - maybe Town need to be a comfortably-placed Premiership team before even entertaining the thought of providing youngsters with a chance in this league. Or, better put, will we ever be in a position where we can offer a highly-placed (for example) Championship team one of our youngsters, (i.e. someone like Kasey Palmer)? Only time will tell - but we'd know better if we keep the Academy in the first place. And with all the PL money flying about it can't be a question of not being able to afford it anymore. Just to be clear, I was thinking of the season before, where we finished 19th (?) but were safe with 3 or 4 games to go. An ideal time to give a few youngsters a bit of first team action and take a look at them IMO. especially when our regular 1st teamers were so clearly already on the beech anyway judging by the results we got. Can't disagree re the geography, but the simple fact re young lads is they haven't been good enough. I don't have all the stats but can't think of any except smithies who left here and have established themselves at championship level never mind the level above in the last decade. Mostly it's lads now plying their trade at l1 and l2 and the odd one in the spl...........that's not good enough. I know Leeds are a bigger club but the quality coming out of their academy in the last 13/14 yrs since they left the prem is a stark contrast to ours. Even Bradford have produced more with the likes of green, wisdom etc. It doesn't matter about their results too much - the academy has to produce players for our first team or to be sold for reasonable money to justify its existence ..........our best in the last decade was clearly smithies but that apart it's not delivered.

Hunts the other one youve forgotten, but yes, the academy hasn't been producing what we need it to in anything like the numbers we'd hope it would. But i do think theres an argument that you have to give them a chance too and if we don't have anyone good enough to be given a game in a meaningless dead rubber at the end of a season, then somethings gone horribly wrong.
Harry Kane is a good example of what i mean. If hed grown up at Chelsea he wouldn't have ever played for them. Would have been loaned out and eventually sold, probably to a championship club as hed have been deemed not good enough for them. At spurs though, they loaned him out, brought him back and gave him a chance in the 1st team. They now have one of the hottest strikers in the world who they could sell tomorrow for £100m if they wanted.

They loaned Kane out several times Capn......I can only think other clubs don't rate much of ours because few of ours appear to do the same. Hunt is a great example - his loan at chesterfield was the catalyst for becoming a decent player. I'd love to see Williams, booty etc go out and excel elsewhere then come back here confident and ready to compete. Wagner and his coaches clearly rate young schofield - he's come from nowhere into the first team squad.......we need more.

it's a little bit frustrating that those who couldn't go last night are seemingly 'not allowed' to know what was said in a public q&a with Dean. It was made quite clear at the start that as a premier league club we're on a whole new set of rules regarding media and that Dean doing the Q&A in an open forum is highly unique for a PL club. They didn't want any streaming or any recording that could end up on YouTube or social media etc. that could be dissected and used against the club if Dean was to talk in his usual open and frank manner. This is why stuff coming out appears to be a bit limited, which for those not there is frustrating. However - I would like to know from the club/togterrier what sort of things we are allowed to mention so stuff can be passed on. Already there's quite a bit of information come out and stuck on this forum which may or may not be considered going against the initial dictat. You can mention absolutely everything that was discussed because you weren't asked not to. You were asked not to record or stream the event. There is a HUGE difference between a guest discussing what was said and a direct quote from the Chairman taken from a recording. The Club fully expect the topics to be discussed on here, they aren't stupid! If they were concerned they just wouldn't hold the Q&As or discuss certain points. People who think otherwise are, imo, mistaken.

In his entire time at Town, the only youth player Wagner has given a debut to was Lloyd Allinson when Jed Steer went off injured in the last game of the season. He also brought Will Boyle on at Preston in his first season. He came on in the 90th minute and his error cost us a goal in the 91st! Wasn't his debut though, he'd played the year before under Powell

Something else I remembered from Thursday which came to mind this morning as I get ready for this afternoon:
For how good last Saturday was against Palace, it was another game; DH said that it was this Sunday he was most looking forward to, the first home game in the PL, this was the one he was most excited about and he expects the JS to be rocking.
I'm sure it will be...
