Gordon Banks, a boyhood hero...Every kid who was picked last or actually volunteered to be in goal called himself "Banks" as his gloveless fingers were stung making a Banksesq style save.
I've got to dig out "that save" yet again and relive that glorious moment in the first ever full colour World Cup. Ps: Didn't it look really hot out there?

The first post should be edited at least. Anyway: in the 1970/71 season only one player scored more than once against him in a game. That was Frank in the 3-3 Cup tie. Frank could have got a hat-trick but he stopped when clean through thinking the whistle had blown but it hadn't. Frank stopped because he thought a bobby was chasing him..whistles being the style at the time for the constabulary? for a big lad Frank could shift a bit, being chased by husbands might have given him that edge?
