It may be a slower burner this thread and may take several years to materialise, or even never at all, but with Town and Bournemouth having fairly recently been in the 4th tier of English football, but now playing in the top flight, which club do you think will be the next to achieve this fête?
It may be a club in League 2 now, or non league (unlikely), a club presently in a higher division that will drop down before bouncing back or perhaps one that's been there and now on the way up.
Somebody might be able to bump this thread in a few years time with a 'told you so'.
Brentford are the closest I think and would be the favourites but I'll say Blackburn.
Also, how about which current Premier League club will be the first to play in the 4th tier?
My prediction is Watford.

Personally I would like to see our favourite pub team from Beeston do the first part of the thread. Drop down to the 4th tier but then never get promoted again.

One day a club with a big catchment will rise...maybe Plymouth or Carlisle...buyers look for that sort of thing. Fan potential. A guy in Poland bought a village team when he could not buy a decent sized club and took that village team (400 people) to the top of the Polish league in 7 years. They are still clinging to their top flight status. Its funny when they play at home and are always outnumbered..they have about 60 hardcore fans Termalica Bruk-Bet. Its clear L**ds will go bust and outof the league at some point...we live in hope.

Well; based on the events following our previous visit to this division, there can only really be one answer to your second question..... Obviously we hope for a different outcome but, as we know, there are two key people who just have to stick around.
I rather hope that Notts County (one of the oldest clubs around) can make the leap in an upward direction. They seem to have got going this season.

In fact there used to be a chap on here who lived up that way and referred to Gretna as his second team. I think they got to the Scottish cup final before fading away.

Coventry have done a decent job of doing it the other way around, 1st to 4th tier, with the right owners maybe they could return to the 1st tier one day.

Ah right ... it’s not going to be done without huge huge investment ... HTFC getting in the top flight was a modern day miracle . The next team to do it will be an even bigger miracle given the future projections re premier league monies

Portsmouth might be a decent shout. Promoted last year and making a reasonable fist of things. Our friends from Valley Parade might feel it could be them

Another question might be: given that Brighton and Town are the 48th and 49th different clubs to appear in the prem, who will be number 50?

Without a serious massive investment Blackburn and Blackpool will never see the premier league again. Bristol City have wealthy owners and a large catchment area. They could be the next. Other than them I can't see a new to the premier league club in the near future.

I doubt they ever will, but Gillingham is a club that has the potential to be a much bigger club than it actually is. Think their catchment area is really big and densely populated. Just that most of them would say they 'support' one of the big london clubs, or Man utd or course. But if they could change that they have the potential at least, to be a club getting 40,000 every week.

It was a Wednesday afternoon during Ted Heath's 3 day week. We had the day off from school so went with a couple of pals from school who were Leeds fans. But I was diehard town by then and never made a return visit to Elland Road

Okay I'll say Bradford City.
Promoted from league two in 2013.
League cup finalists the same season.
Very good and sensible owners, doing things the right way. Lost in play off final last season and doing well in league one again.
Most championship sides haven't been in league two for a very long time bar Button but don't think they have the catchment to push them on.
