Whoever is picked as full backs on either side against city can we please remember the level (and pace) of their wingers? Whoevers get's picked is going to be made to look poor at points in the game, and the usual naysayers will come out to use that as evidence that they are the wrong choice.

I'd go straight up 5311
Lossl Flo - Cranie - Schindler - Zanka - Lowe Hogg - Mooy - Williams Ince LDP
Just limit it. Protect the GD. Pack the middle and hope to get a lucky break on the counter.

A lot of his good work last season was in tandem with Kachunga. For whatever reason, that's not happened this year. I think it's question of who is the better (and most aware) defender, as it's so easy to get caught out at this level with the ball behind the full back. Personally not sure which of the two is the better choice at the moment. It was in triplicate with Heff and Kachunga.

VLP will be first name on the team sheet v Man City. Got some pace to give them a few worries and make them think. Maybe they will rest some players and I guess Stones is out.

Stones out for 4/6 weeks Ah, I think they have qualified so they will put the stiffs in v Feyenoord and bring all the good ones back to face us! Still have a feeling we might upset them.

I'll be delighted if we can keep them to 4 They should have been down to 10 after the fowl on Vardy! Hopefully Karma kicks in next weekend.

Lossl
Löwe / Malone Flo / Smith Zanka Schindler
Hogg Mooy Williams
RVLP Ince
Depoitre
Subs: Green, Palmer, Mounié, Sabiri, Cranie, one of the fullbacks, Whitehead.
Get RVLP or Ince closer to Depoitre. Still attack from fullback, with Williams and Hogg ready to cover. Let them have it in their own half and press once in our half. Leave someone up for corners.

Flo looks a big improvement on Smith to me. He is always looking to play a forward pass whereas Smith is forever giving it back to Lossl or Zanka. Whether either are really good enough for this level is another debate though His ball into Kachunga was excellent, Mounié might have scored (would have got a shot on target) and Tim Cahill would have buried it Flo is good. Our problem is nobody is willing to play through balls into the feet of our strikers on a counter. We tend to recycle it all too quickly backward. The best example this year was the ball to Depoitré from Sabiri on the counter v Leicester, we need more of that. DW talks of being brave, but are we really?

I'm going to go out on a limb, but let's be realistic, we're playing Man City. I'd be very very tempted to rest Mooy. The only reason he played on Saturday for me was due to Hoggy missing, as I think he would've been on the bench or rested all together! With the schedule getting hectic over December and New Year, and the fact we play a lot of the teams around us, I'd give him time off. Schindler has had 3 weeks off now because of the suspension, Smith & Lowe have as well, and so has Hogg with him missing Saturday. Rest Mooy Saturday, and go into the games that mean a lot more, as we'll be taking points from teams around us, rather than against City, who I can see going unbeaten all season.

Time for the media to big-up the 10-1 thrashing in '88 (?), because the only way that we will win will be to for Town play out of our skins, and for them to believe that the points are in the bag before they've got off the bus.

Our reserves (containing Mark Hudson and Dean Whitehead) held a strong City side last year 0-0. Those 20/1 odds are surely worth 20 quid

Anyone know who suffered a heavier defeat and by whom?

Smith must be back in and stay in. I was shocked he wasn’t back in at Bournemouth especially given Schindler’s suspension. That was a mistake in selection imo. For a team that doesn’t score or create many he created 10 goals with crosses last year. We can’t afford to play without him. Hadergonaj is strictly occasional back up. I think Flo has more chance of keeping up with Sane than Smithy does, Tommy will be lucky to get to half time without seeing red

sit in we lose.. go gung ho we lose.. middle ground we give ourselves a fighting chance.. thats all that virtually all of us are asking for..
if they have to score it has to be a good one.. letting them tip tap in and around your box is asking for it.. chasing over the top diagonals or central for aguero wont succeed either..
getting a bit braver or falling apart after you are 2 or 3 down will probably lead to the same spanking.. we have to play as much of the game up the pitch as is humanly possible, attack and defence wont work..

not sure if it matters who starts up front,I doubt he will have an attempt on goal How very negative of you diggers! Personally I’d start with the three goalkeepers and the rest of the team playing as defenders.
