Smith can deliver consistent quality yet this season imo & tbh we need as many players with half a chance at delivering quality as we can get- another reason to see if Flo can play left back from where he delivered that beauty for LDP against Chelsea. Smith and Flo coming into form could be just the job. Flo was excellent against Southampton - whipped a couple of really difficult, belting crosses in on the run - bright and intelligent when his options got closed off down the wing - he'd always go inside rather than backwards and was constantly looking to play a forward ball to feet - exactly the opposite of what Smith does when things get a bit limited in front of him, always going back to his keeper or centre halves. I disagree that Smith delivers consistent quality - he's had the odd decent game but continually looks limited when he has the ball and is forever turning back - the sign of a player who has his head down trying not to make a mistake rather than up, confident and looking to create things. Fair play to Smith though - he comes on and goes and sticks one right on Laurent's head - I'm not saying he's shit, he's decent back up - it's just that I've seen enough of Flo to be convinced he's much better. Smith has shown he is more than capable of putting in good crosses. His number of assists last season show that. However, in general play he is limited on the ball. If he has obvious passing options he is fine, but if he doesn't, or he is under pressure, he either passes backwards or knocks the ball long and high. For me, Flo is better on the ball in general - his passing is better, and more progressive - and you don't see him lumping long balls up the pitch as often as Smith.

Lossl Smith Zanka Schindler Malone Mooy Hogg Collin Ince VLP Depoitre Lolley unlucky after an excellent cameo at Saints Don’t make Collin mark their dangerman from set pieces Stoke will be a threat physically so Depoitre will need to be big and strong. Hogg can sit on Shaqiri to keep him quiet. keep shaqiri going on his right.. challenge him further up the pitch, he takes every tackle pretty personally..

We definitely need to keep him on his weaker foot. He has a wand in his left foot, but only uses his right for standing on. He's a real danger, even if he's having a quiet game.

I also think we look more balanced in midfield when he plays alongside Mooy.

I presume Mrs Crouch will be fighting off the other bargain hunters in the Kingsgate sales today...

Flo is much the better player for me.

Yes he did, but notice I said consistently. Smith and Flo coming into form could be just the job. Too many wanting square pegs in round holes. Flo isn't a left back. Malone isn't a left winger. Stick with Flo at RB.

Don’t see why Flo should be left out other than to keep the side fresh. For me, his overall play has been better than Tommy’s. Nice assist from Tommy on Saturday, mind. Flo has an equally good cross on him though. I’d go Flo. But no actual assists. I’ve got Gonads in at LB. Reckon that could be the way forward second half of the season. & I’ve gone two up top to bully shawcross. I know it’ll never happen but it Would be a fun starting line up. Lolo's against Chelski ?

Schindler should have scored twice from Flo’s crosses at Saints. Depoitre scores from a Smith cross. The left is a bigger problem, although Lolley put two great crosses in withininn minutes of coming on last Saturday.

Personally couldn't see Mounie replacing Depoitre, but I'm willing to concede to Mr Wagner's expertise.

4 games in 10 days was always gonna see some rotation, Mounié coming in isn't really a surprise. LDP will be on at some point in the 2nd half and will probably start against Burnley.

Let's hope we don't need LDP and Mounie puts in the same sort of effort.
