On the bright side if we scrape survival and do it unconvincingly maybe it keeps Wagner here 😉
Maybe that’s the players plan

We need a leader on the pitch. We simply don’t have one there. Mooy is quiet as a mouse, but he was throwing his hands in the air blaming others at times yesterday. The heads are down and it’s now the stage of the season that the players either stand up and be counted or they go missing in action. Unfortunately, I am only seeing the latter. It’s down to Wagner to do something about that. You cAn lead a horse to water but you cant force it to drink.THE coach can only do so much once the players step over the white line they have to take responsibility for there own actions and performances.i have no doubt some or down on confidence and as a coach you try and build them up but at the end of the day you have to pull out of it yourself.

Worth giving Hefele a game? We need leadership and spirit. There is none on or off the pitch at the moment. Can't see how Hef would be worse than Jorgensen, who looks increasingly suspect. Kongolo has to play left back until Lowe returns if we aren't going to try 3 at the back.
With relatively limited funding compared to established premier sides, the summer recruitment had to be spot on. Let's be honest, it wasn't. Mounie, Malone and Ince have been a waste of precious money. Just not up to the standard needed in this league. Of all the signings only Depoitre and possibly Lossl have made a difference in quality. Elsewhere we really only added numbers, not improved quality.
Real test for DW as a leader now. No good grumbling about players not being 'brave' if he isn't prepared to be. Needs some really innovative thinking now. 4231 isn't working for us anywhere on the pitch. More of the same and just vaguely hoping that the football gods will suddenly smile on us is not going to work.

Wagner is so stubborn he will not change anything, I've lost all belief that he can. He will continue with the same dull, boring, ineffective shit football until we go down. I'm starting to think that the players think they are better than they are & do not agree with or want to play this negatively awful & bizarre football Wagner is intent on persisting with. Watched yesterdays 'Football Focus,'they interviewed Paul Lambert, I'm not a fan of his. But when asked about previous experience managing teams fighting relegation, he said the following. "When managing a team fighting relegation, you try many different thing, varying team selection, trying different team formations & tactics, just to try to win matches." Compared this with DW's approach, the only difference we are seeing, game to game, at the moment, is that he changes the full backs, virtually every game. DW is very stubborn & appears not to want to change the team & or formation, I cannot see where the next league win is coming from! We see the same formation every game, we are constantly over run in midfield, but DW sticks with 2 DM's, 2 wide men & a no 10, well David it's not working! Don't see where our next win's coming from, please let's try an alternative formation 4-4-2 or 3-5-2, we are desperate for a league win, we really need off field & on field inspiration! - UTT.

And of course if you go into every game with the same formation and general plan then the opposing team know exactly what they have to do to counteract you. Adaptation and variation are good weapons to have in your armoury.

Again, I'm not saying Wagner is above criticism but are we really saying he should be taking tactical advice from Paul bloody Lambert? You can translate what he's said there as 'When facing relegation you blindly panic and start throwing as much shit at the wall as possible in the hope that something sticks'. You constantly see this from struggling managers and 99% of the time it doesn't end well.
We've bought and trained players for a particular system, one that's enabled us to be more than the sum of our parts. The further we go from that, the more we become the actual sum of our parts which in this league doesn't amount to very much at all. That's what we're seeing right now but I feel it's much more down to losing the belief and mentality than the formation.

I wouldn't get rid of Wagner even if we slide into the bottom 3 or even get relegated.
If we go back down I can think of no better man to learn from this experience and make us bounce back up - just like Sean Dyche.
And even if we did get rid of him - who on earth would you bring in?
Wager 100% for me.
