Surprised he's not nearer the top but I'm having a cheeky bet on Lee Johnson at 33/1, seems the Hoyle "fit" and progressing well. He’s not progressing right well on his promise to deliver European football to Bristol City It does my nut in when old farts moan about modern managers complicating things, but this guy talks in complete riddles, thinking he sounds thoughtful. No thanks.

A very reliable source, say no more see if I am correct. Personally would be delighted with this. Hope you aren’t left with egg on your face.

imissmarcus I can not say much to VFB Stutgart. Peter Stöger, the ex Dortmund coach would be interesting. Very solid coach with a lot of experience. Better for smaller clubs to build something long term. The 1.FC Cologne was very good for him. Dortmund squinted like the other great Vereien at the top of the quick success. Huddersfield should look in the 2nd leagues and under, also international and national looking for a young ambitious coach who makes a lot out of a small budget. Like the former Klopp, who never had much money before. When the new generation of trainers scored successes in Germany, the German clubs began scouting in the top youth teams for top coaches. Highly talented young coaches are already being hunted there. These young coaches work in Germany using the most modern methods, Tuchel gives his players nutritional plans, ordered mental training, and also interferes in private life. That's why Bayern Munich players did not want him. If you are interested I can write about Klopp, and the career paths (Buvac, Wagner). Follow their career for a long time.

Can't see it happening, but I too think that Stöger would be a good choice. Funnily enough, in the game VfB Stuttgart v Köln (not long before Stöger was sacked in Dec 2017), the ref initially gave a penalty to Köln near the end of the match with the score 1-1, but then decided to consult the VAR and changed his mind. The parallels with Cardiff end there, because Stuttgart went on to win the game with a deflected shot. Point being Köln had some horrible luck with VAR and in general (don't think Stöger took too kindly to his football director, Schmadtke, going either). Did have them playing some nice, attacking football though (even in the face of adversity). Think he was totally surprised that Dortmund came calling only a week or so later! But that was only on a temporary basis from the very outset (even so, I think I'm right in saying he took a "wobbly" Dortmund to the CL at the end of last season). Can't see Wagner going elsewhere as soon as Stöger did, but in 6 months time, you never know; there was that beady-eyed billionaire from Hoffenheim announcing his interest a year or so back, so maybe he can secure Wagner's services when Nagelsmann leaves TSG. But that's just speculation.

Thought Köln looked good that night, missed a few decent chances though if I remember right. Didn't get the rub of the green with VAR, either! Wasn't that one of the reasons Schmadtke left, getting tired of vital decisions going against them?

I'd say he's done an average job wherever he's been personally, was very lucky to get a move from Oldham where he hadn't really pulled up tress, then to Barnsley who were decent at that level anyway then onto Bristol City where he's been well backed by the owners yet never troubled the play off positions. Seems to have got his good rep from pretty much nothing as far as I can tell, although he's obviously an impressive character hence the moves. Plus he's from that neck of the woods and being well backed so why leave.

Could see a move for Danny Cowley guy has ALOT to prove but could be of interest to us I feel. Just would be a massive step up for him. But I think could be a gamble that pays off

He’s not progressing right well on his promise to deliver European football to Bristol City Beat a Premier League team and only Bolton between them and the last 16 of the FA Cup....then anything can happen 🤣 But yes, please NO !!! Kind of man who might have been on a list but quickly wiped off back when we were employing Robins and Grayson! Wouldn’t be close to a list now, if there was such a thing (feels to me like there’s been a succession plan in place with one name on it)

I cannot understand all these names listed above if we are told the new "Manager" will be named after the City match.
Surely they have already decided unless there will be another empty chair! or it may be sometime later after sunday.

Surely they have already decided unless there will be another empty chair! or it may be sometime later after sunday. Well, you would hope so. But given they are to announce it on Sunday (that is also speculation, by the way), that means, for the moment, that their name has not been disclosed. Given nobody, not event the hacks who claim to be in the know, knows anything at all, it means the subject is open to speculation and comment. And whilst ever that remains the case, the bookies will open a book consisting of numerous names (random or otherwise). Folk on here will then express their wants and dislikes. It’s pretty simple really. Unless you are ‘in the know’?.... In which case, do share and then we wont need to keep on listing names.

The skysports article claimed the new manager would be announced after the game on Sunday. It did not make it clear that this would be on the Sunday evening. Next month is after the game on Sunday. I simply read it to mean that we would not be going into the Man City game with a new manager in place.

That's right, the wording was slightly ambiguous. Most normal people would assume from it that the announcement would be fairly soon after the game (as Sky have interpreted it that way in their story above) but strictly speaking there is no time frame mentioned. It's a bit like 'up to 70% off' in the sales. You hope its going to be pretty close to 70% but in fact it could be as little as 1 or 2% if the shop's being sneaky. With the game being on TV though maybe Town have seized this as a PR excercise and might make the announcement live on TV after the game?

I've heard there is no appointment at this stage and the Sky headline is purely speculation based upon "how these things work". They cam then hide behind claiming It would be 'after the city game' which could be any time from 3.30pm Sunday until next Christmas and beyond.

I know this forum is split on Alan Nixon so don’t shoot the messenger but he was asked this morning if he had heard anymore on the new HTAFC boss, his reply was: “Hoyle knows who he wants...suspect it will be a double act with Hudson”.
Has Buhler actually gone too, haven’t heard anything re the coaching staff, Andy Hughes etc??

A double act with Hudson, it will be a double act. I guess if Town has no ambition other than relegation and free fall, good choice.

That would be disappointing Jan Siewert as Manager and Hudson as his assistant is that so inconceivable ? Not at all - Hudson doesn't have his UEFA badge yet, and he is being brought up the ladder with Whitehead moving up behind him - makes complete sense. No one can be sure if it will work but as a strategy it is entirely logical.

Has to be the Dortmund guy with Hudson acting as his right hand man? Unless we're going full Salford City and having two head coaches, either way sounds slightly underwhelming thus far
