You can’t see his philosophy on the pitch this season. He talks about being at Dortmund and mentions 2 players but they only have 3 Dortmund II appearances between them and I doubt were training with the second team. Not writing him off but Jan has done nothing to convince me that he knows what he is doing. That's one of the things that worries me with JS - He talks the talk certainly but seems to massively paint a one-sided picture eg his (now numerous) interviews about how well we've played/chances we've created after matches where we have been well beaten and never really threatened, "his" purchase of Grant - I understood it was a done deal long before he arrived, his record as a manager/coach previously (relatively limited but already includes a relegation before he came here), the way he's publicly blamed the players for basically messing up "his" tactics etc etc. I don't think he's taken responsibility for a single poor performance since he came. It's always someone else's fault. And then, most of all, the appalling results , and performances, since he came here. Yes, it's not his team but he's had literally months to put some type of identity/show some sort of pattern to our play which is unarguably absent. All in all, for me, the actions - not words - of an inexperienced man who can talk the talk but otherwise seems lost. I haven't mentioned the regular suggestions of disharmony etc in the camp cos that's impossible to prove but what I can "prove" - his interviews and the performances - fills me with little hope or confidence. I really hope I'm wrong but, as everyone says, this pre-season is massive and he doesn't seem to have the expertise, experience or history to suggest he's the man for this current job. By October next season either great damage will have been done, or we'll be showing signs of recovery. His actions so far, not his words, suggest we really could be struggling.

One thing that should be brought up is how our expected goals tally has improved since Siewert came in. Mean average under Wagner this season was 0.64, 0.96 under Siewert. Of course these don't tell the whole story, but an increase of nearly a third is significant. Results aren't telling the full story and there are obvious reasons for this relating to the psychology of the players. Average goals conceded under wagner per game- 1.681 under Jan -2.55, points per game under Wagner - 0.5 under Jan - 0.27. Also Wagner didn't have Grant so his stats could have been better as he looks much sharper than our other strikers The West Ham game is the most obvious example of one part of this. The players, when put into a winning position, completely panicked because they weren't used to having a position to defend, particularly towards the end of the game when a result is usually out of sight. West Ham exposed Jan's lack of defensive organistaion which has seen us concede more and earn less points for all these extra goals you think he has brought. Here's another stat for you, Jan's mass scoring improvement over a season would be 24, just 4 less than we managed last yearSimilarly, in broad terms they have known they're relegated upon his appointment. His appointment was 3 weeks after the sleepwalking statemnt??? This was an appointment for the future, not a stab at keeping us up. There's been a variety of reactions. Some have downed tools, and some have coasted, all to varying degrees. These two groups have it in the back of their mind that they're off somewhere else in the summer. These groups make up a significant amount of the squad. Another group have been given a chance to prove themselves under JS. Some have taken their chance (Grant, Bacuna, Stankovic) some haven't (Hamer, Mounie, Depoitre) and the jury's still out on some (Mbenza, Diakhaby, then Daly and the other youngsters). Some would argue this is the point of management and why it is tough, players always have their own agenda but good managers gel players into a team. Not happened here, the team spririt and fight has gone and the manager has done nothing to improve that.
So what we've got there is already a squad of players who are moving in completely different directions. That's not going to make forming a team spirit easy to do straight off the bat. Then look at how senior players have taken to things since the appointment and compare that with what happened initially under Wagner. Hogg's undoubtedly the one in our squad who should be taking up the role Hudson and Whitehead did previously. However his head is all over the place on the pitch and the team are lacking in the leadership he is supposed to be providing. As a result of all this, combined with an already threadbare squad that has been so ravaged with injuries that until Saturday we didn't have enough available players to play Siewert's preferred 4-3-3 system, it's not a surprise that results haven't come. It's also not a surprise that some of you have turned on him so quickly. I'm fed up with this season too and want it to end. It's not going to end faster by sacking the manager though, and the same players are still going to leave whoever we appoint in his place. This is why he was not the manager to take Town forward, he has extinguished any hope. Any player than can get away will because we are now setting records as the worst team ever in PL history. Many said in January that we needed to spend some money and finish well whether we can stay up or not. This was rubbished by many on here, save the money even if we loose every game. Well we have nearly lost every game, without any bad luck or dodgy refereeing decisions against us, moral is rock bottom in the team and in the stands. The definition of insanity is to continue the same action expecting a different outcome. Yes lets be more patient, of course it will get better. It will eventually i guess, the beauty of the pyramid is eventually you get to a level that you can compete at from player, manager, or investment perspectiveThe upcoming summer window promises a lot of incomings as well as outgoings. I'm holding out judgment until Siewert has got in the players he wants to get in, and has given them a chance to gel. I think it's a bit delusional to expect us to bounce back first time. Not many relegated clubs do it, especially not ones with a remit of overhauling the squad. So lets cut out the toxic atmosphere and get behind our manager. The club will be delighted to know that their lack of investment has successfully reset expectations. When this year is a failure you will realise we have less money next year and expectations will drop further, then again until there is no more premier league money so what do you expect Dean to do? spend his money as the owner? At that point all the other patient fans will no doubt apologise for their naivety. It is almost like you agree with the pundits, we shouldn't be here. This is the big difference between teams like Watford, Chrystal Palace, Burnley even bournemouth. They all believe they can compete and deserve to be here, you are already excusing next seasons failure!!!!!

I think you need to read my post again to be honest. Your comments are a mixture of wilful misinterpretations and a lack of understanding of where we're at as a club. Surviving a season in the PL doesn't make a team established. The intent last summer was to establish ourselves, and when it became clear that wasn't going to happen, the club had 2 scenarios. 1) Do a second season Bradford City- spaff money about the place on expensive players and get in financial bother when we can't shift them after getting relegated. 2) Try and safeguard the long term future of the club by sticking to the philosophy that got us promoted in the first place. If Jan isn't the man, which I don't think we're qualified to judge on until the autumn at least, then the club can just get someone else in who fits the ethos of the club. The club is in flux and needs to consolidate more than anything at the moment.

Those are not nearly the only options available to the club and if they were why the sleepwalking comment. Why sign Grant? Is he wasted money? We are qualified to comment on Jan because nothing has improved apart from Goals scored which is down almost entirely to the spaffed money in January. Every other aspect of the club is in a worse position including morale amongst the fans. We are qualified because he has no experience and has no success on his CV, and when somebody starts talking up their role with half truths like he does post match then it is because he feels he is being found out as lacking. The club is in flux because of Jan's lack of impact. I'm not happy that Jan will be trusted with the biggest budget we will ever have in the championship and to write off another season. Last season I doubt anybody believed this was the season we established ourselves!! This was the season we tried to stay up again. As would next have been if we had succeeded this season. Another flop of a season and the crowds will be gone and the investment will shrivel up. We needed a manager and a couple of players to help us get to the end of the season with a bit of pride. This capitulation is shocking.

The 'spaffing money' scenario would've been buying a bunch of Petrescu or Collymore type players a-la Bradford at the inflated January transfer fees and wages. I also didn't say anything about people not being qualified to comment, if you read my initial post I said how I understand people wanting JS out already. The club isn't in flux because of Jan at all. It's because there's rumours of a change of ownership for the first time in 10 years, because half the squad are going to leave in the summer (which would've happened regardless of who was appointed), and because the summer hasn't arrived yet so we're stuck with a squad full of wantaways and want-a-holidays for the rest of the season. This is a huge rebuild. I understand why some see that as a reason for getting rid of JS. What I don't understand is him inheriting the blame for everything that had been crashing down for months before he even arrived.

Genius, perhaps best not to put that on a public message board though, this has to be the key to our success going forward. Don't sign these players just sign the good ones, no other team employs this strategy. Also, If the hope hadn't been killed By Jan with the performances on the pitch and in press conferences, we would have been able to keep some players we wanted to build a team around unlike now where anybody that can will want to leave. He is not taking the blame for the mistakes of last summer, but nothing has improved since he came in and some things have got worse. This was not the case when Wagner took over. Even the first season people could see what he was trying to do and a couple of signings could make all the difference. When managers start taking credit for things they haven't done and don't accept any responsibility for the failings of the team there is a bigger problem. Wagner never did this. The club are as much to blame, one huge mistake after another. Takeover has nothing to do with it. The only place the takeover is real is on this board until it happens.

I think the point that Bojaj is trying to make is that a number of clubs have - when threatened with relegation - spaffed loads of money in an attempt to stay up/establish themselves. Perversely, sometimes spending more than a player is worth can be money well spent. At our own club, was Wayne Allison worth the money? Well, in so far as how good he was, he wasn't worth £800k (in those days, a lot of money), but in so far as he was exactly the type of player we needed to keep us up he was worth every penny. Who here would value Christian Benteke at £32m? 2 or 3 years ago Crystal Palace did (btw, he's just ended a goal drought that would make Mounie wince), but then they needed to spaff a load of money - Bradford style - in the hope of staying up. It's a risky strategy, but the difference was that spaffing money Bradford style worked for Crystal Palace. Our friends from Manningham were not so lucky. Had Palace failed to stay up that year I would not be in the least bit surprised to have seen them playing league games against Shrewsbury & Accrington this season.

My concern is that we will be spaffing money if JS remains as manager based on his showing to date - both man management and tactically so far he has shown little or no ability and I don't buy his claim that he was responsible for the Grant purchase ( the Dortmund reserve coach apparently knew all about the English league one ?? ). I understand and agree with people saying we should keep to the Wagner philosophy - my view is that JS has in no way adhered to that philosophy which is why non of the players want to play for him and why he is the wrong appointment. The only reason that it is argued JS is following the Wagner model is because he comes from the Dortmund reserves but neither Wagner nor Farke ever criticised their players in the same way.If I am wrong and he suddenly picks up loads of bargains in the summer and blends them into a team then I will be delighted to acknowledge this but to date he has done precisely nothing to suggest he is capable of building a team with spirit , determination and any tactical plan - to give him money this summer and two months next year smacks of blind optimism rather than looking at the cold hard facts of his ( non) performance for the last three months. I will give him praise for having got the best from Bacuna and Grant but this is more than outweighed by his effect on pretty much all the other players in the squad ( Hogg , Billing, Mounie , Zanka , Mooy , Pritchard and Lossl in particular have gone backwards/been undermined ).

British manager with a squad of mainly British players is my preference, a bit similar to Burnley.

"In your life, you get several times when you get hits in the face, and it seems I have to take these for the club at the moment." latest quote from JS in the Examiner .
Not sure what this means - I'm getting that negative about this bloke that it sounds to me that he is complaining about his lot, having to take hits on behalf of the club. Could someone offer me a different interpretation please.

The club's been shambolic for over 12 months, and the manager is copping the brunt of it.
That's all he's saying.
He didn't sign all the shite players, or release players that he could possibly have utilised.

Judging by his throwing of the water bottle on Saturday I think it’s already happened. See team selections of the last 6 weeks for further proof.

All he is saying is that the clubs present situation, results, performances, players (one of whom won an award) not being picked or not playing well is nothing to do with him he is just taking the blame. I do feel a bit sorry for him - he iis completely out of his depth with no signs of this improving. I believe his win rate is around 8 per cent which must be one of the lowest for a manager currently in a job.

Seems odds on DH will give him the chance to prove himself next season, then it will be the time to judge him. I doubt it, Dean is usually a good judge. The takeover may obviously make things more complicated but I'll be amazed if he's still here in August. Sent from my SM-G920F using proboards

Take 7 months to replace a sporting Director This one lasts 7 months after the previous one lasted 5 Now taken 3 to find the latest one The best one jumped ship to join Norwich... Spend £5m on our weakest part of the squad in the summer Bring in an unknown manager who wants to play with wingers... let 3 wide players leave and don’t replace them Chairman and CEO contradicting each other why the previous manager left Stupid statements New Year’s Eve Shambles I’d be punching the dugout never mind throwing my arms about Jan throwing his arms around? Least of our worries

Sent from my SM-G920F using proboards Dean does not mess around and won't think twice about removing Jan but in this instance it does seem Dean as is back given the problems we are in which was our own making and that includes Dean and he as held is hand up.
