Hi all
First thing to do is make a confession - due to holidays I was not at either of our games so far this season - watched Derby on sky in a pub near Tenby and watched the "highlights" of Saturday on Sunday morning.
However, I have seen many folk who were at one or both games questioning our fitness. Is the consensus that we are not at the races with fitness? If so, why? Has JS scrapped the two sessions a day that Wagner brought in? Have we changed the personnel in fitness coaching - I thought we had that scary big black fella still - John Igo is it? Looks like a drill sergeant/PTI?
What is going on?

I dunno, but I’ll be very pissed off if we sell VLP and Mounié because they don’t get on with JS. Then sack JS a few weeks later...
No better chance of getting a win than against what sounds like will be a much changed Lincoln side tonight. Could give us the confidence boost we all need. Loose...then I fear for us Friday and he shouldn’t be here sat morn. I went last Saturday and it was pretty dreadful.

No, we didn't look fit at all. A few lads blowing very early v Derby. More concerning was no press.
We simply cannot play 433 unless we press and we didn't seem to have the energy to do that in either game. Also, a few lads don't seem to be able to work between the thirds and just give up when it leaves their area.
I've got this notion that we are attempting some kind of zonal 433!?!?!? It is a bit bewildering.

I’ve been in Iceland, watched the Derby game in full and caught about 20 mins of the QPR game.
I’m not sure we are particularly unfit as such, in fact the QPR game was played at a high pace from both teams in the first half and seemed to be almost non stop and hardly go out of play with very few stoppages.
I think we just look leggy or unfit because we’re chasing the game quite a bit, players seem to be reacting rather than auto piloting drilled patterns.
Footballers always look unfit when they’re reacting and chasing games, think about when we were dominating possession as we strolled to promotion, we covered tons of ground but it all looked very easy and felt like we ran the opposition ragged.
Probably not unfit, just if you’re reacting you can’t manage your mini recovery sessions during a game as easy.

Mooy was certainly blowing hard in the Derby game, but it's clear he's not been interested for a long while and now he's gone anyway. I agree with Bacunafrittata, we were disjointed and reactive in both games, using up significantly more energy than we did when properly organised under Wagner.

Didn’t have you down as a Daily Mail reader it's an accurate description though innit? he is a big black fella.. Only black fellas are allowed to refer to black fellas, usually when they're moaning that there aren't enough black fellas in football.

I think a lot of the lack of perceived movement and effort is down to the players not having a clue what they are supposed to be doing.

Jan apparently moaned that we weren't fit enough when he took over...which given he took over from a bloke with a PHD in Sports Science who had proven themselves fit, was probably new manager bollocks. Probably also the first in a long lost of daft moves from him that alienated players.
I don't think we're unfit now as such, we just don't manage possession and don't press as its not part of the tactics.

I think “people of colour” is the accepted expression this month, but keep with it, because next month it could change again.

Didn’t have you down as a Daily Mail reader it's an accurate description though innit? he is a big black fella.. Of course and Ruud Gullitt (apparently) said of another footballer who called him a black bastard, ‘So what? I am black?’ I’m not offended on anyone’s behalf but from your other posts I just thought it was an odd word to include.

Every time their keeper/defence had the ball we were letting them waltz up the field. We've done the same in every game so far, apart from Hogg who keeps pressing on his own from a position in a 433 he probably shouldn't be. So its either tactical or the players are just going through the motions. Neither look good on Jan's part. There's a reason we stopped pressing Man City etc, they arent phased by it all and plays into their hands as much better players. But you cant tell me that Michael fucking Bostwick would welcome less time on the ball.
