Did one of these after the Derby game, missed one for QPR but after last night it feels only right to do another. Schofield - could of honestly been 3 or 4 more without him, his kicking still isn't quite there as he sent a few balls into touch unnecessarily. Great save from Payne especially. Bockhorn - Looked like a German 4th Division right back for the first half and for the majority of the second also, touch and pass was way off. The most concerning aspect for me he didnt overlap and whip a cross in till what must of been the 60th minute, I'd understand if it was Liverpool but it was Lincoln (and a changed Lincoln side may I add). Edmonds-Green - Did OK, not going to over hype him because of the opposition and that's not out of disrespect its just the situation. Wanted to play it out from the back when he got it which encouraged me. Stankovic - Really struggled against big Akinde was even bullied out of the way like he wasn't there at one point, still unsure if his future lies as a central defender or a number 6 in-front of the back 4. Jaden Brown - Similar to Edmonds-Green did OK, got forward well and had a decent drive saved, looked vulnerable when their right winger got forward, potential there. Bacuna - Living off a handful of good games in the Premier League, has moments you think "he's going to be a player" then he'll Cruyff turn into 4 players and lose the ball needlessly, needs a bit of man management. As an FYI I rate Bacuna and there can be a player there. Reece Brown - Looked classy on the ball in spells but can tell he's come from a few divisions down, didn't really want to get involved with the ugly side of it, some neet touches and passes but doesnt look Championship ready to me, like a few others mentioned he's young and talent is there. Trevor Chalobah - Very mehhh for me, not going to be a number '6' to Hoggs level, looked like he was running in treacle in spells, he's a big lad and a presence a bit like Billing but he won more headers did in 90 minutes than Billing did in his career here. He had a decent range of passing and always looked to play forwards but like Bacuna lost it in needless areas. Koroma - Looked better when he shifted to the right hand side, remained largely anonymous playing central, few neat touches to get away from the full back but a few weak shots on his weaker foot showed he's not quite ready and looked like a player we'd plucked from the conference as a whole. Kachunga - Better in the second half when he shifted to a number '10', one of a few that tried grabbing the game by the scruff of the neck and tried to make something happen, he still doesn't look like the player from the promotion season whether it's a confidence thing or not I'm not sure. Mbenza - I'm sure others would be in agreement that was his worst performance in a Town shirt. Their full backs couldn't of had an easier evening, for someone who is allegedly blessed with pace I don't think I saw him leave a canter, not quite sure what he offers as he doesnt shoot or beat a man and put a cross in, granted he takes a decent dead ball but I'm sure others in that 11 could do similar. VLP - Where to begin.... 20 minute cameo and he got me off my seat more than Kachunga, Mbenza, Diakhaby and Quaner have in the past few months alone. The lad is the best dribbler at the club without a shadow of a doubt. He made things happen and put a few very good balls in the box. Waved at the fans at the end and if that's a goodbye it'll opitimise what a mess we are in currently. FWIW - Jan is completely out of his depth, there's arguments whether he has been dealt a shit hand but for me he cannot get this side playing, he says he wants to run with a 433 but that is very vague and open. Where is the identity and style of play? What sort of team are we? There are too many unanswered questions for me and it's time to end this experiment before we find our self in a very very bleak position.

I'm not reading this. I'd rather wait for the dishonest assessment.

Thank you for a very informative assessment of both matches. Now is the time to take action, Siewert has had long enough. I think he only got the job on the back of Wagner's spectacular success. The German experiment is now as bad as it was initially good.
Install Hudson as caretaker and take your time over a permanent appointment. Do not go back to Dortmund, football's coming home!

Thanks for taking the time. I think Stanko is a midfielder. And a good one. Not sure why he never seems to get a chance there. The Chalobah signing has probably ended his career here in that role, which is a shame.

Unfortunately I'd say Stankovic despite looking promising on occasions seems to make a big gaffe in every game wherever he plays. Just doesn't concentrate enough and is often caught ball watching or out of position. I'd like him to step up to the plate but once again he hasn't seized his opportunity.

FWIW pretty much agree with your comments, well rounded and reasonable. Perhaps a bit kind to VLP but to be fair he did bring something positive to the game, which Mbenza simply did not do. Also, perhaps a bit kind to Schofields kicking, he needs a lot of work on that, but his shot stopping and overall play showed just why he is being picked as number 2, very impressive.

Hudson isn't the answer for me, we've took a gamble with Jan and we cant afford to take another. We need a respectable head coach to come in next, let Mark continue learning his trade within the coaching team and one day he can step into the full position, but now isn't the time. The club needs some stability.

They've probably been 'tracking' another one back at Dortmund for the last three years that's ready to fill Jan's boots. It's a bit like meeting the love of your life in a particular pub and when she runs off with another fella you go back to that pub in the hope that you'll find her replacement. Life doesn't work like that.

Pretty much spot on.
Regarding Reece Brown though, he's not young at 24. He's had Championship experience with Brum previously and due to 'off field issues' ended up dropping down 2 levels. If he's the player the recruitment boys thought he was, he should be ready to step up.

Willing to make these a weekly thing if the general consensus is well liked and appreciated.
Hopefully one day it'll be nice to write positives about nearly every player, there's hope right?!

It breaks my heart to see that avatar of yours.....the memory of going 2 up at WBA and the scenes after that game will live with me for a long time. Like looking back at photos of a supermodel ex when you're currently dating a pig.

I've thought about changing it recently, I change my name often also maybe it's time for a change with both...

Need to replace Siewert now. Need someone who has a track record of the Championship & Premier League - Chris Hughton would be the man. We should have cash from the parachute payments & Mooy loan deal to improve a couple of areas in January. Best to do it now so a new manager has as much time as possible to assess & stabilise with what he's got at the moment. Worked when Dean sacked Mark Robins - salvaged the season straight away

Hudson wouldn't be my choice as permanent manager just yet. He still needs to learn his trade but as a caretaker whilst we find a replacement. Permanently? No. We need somebody who has a track record of success at this level to instill confidence in the players.
Hughton would be my 1st choice but there are other potential candidates out there.

Problem is Hughton will want £££ upfront and £££ in January.
Unfortunately he isn't guaranteed either.

Interesting how we see the same game differently.
Schofield was excellent apart from his kicking, but other than him I only thought Chalobah and Stankovic had a decent game and look likely to be pushing for the first team.
VLP played well when he came on and Mounié could/should have scored with the header from a VLP cross.
Bacuna looks as though he's been swapped with his non-footballing twin over the summer, as he looks nothing like the player from the second half of last season.
Mbenza was awful and Kachunga is starting to look like someone who knows his legs have gone, but can win/buy/cheat his way to some cheap free-kicks.
Koroma looked much better out wide when he didn't have to play with his back to goal, but is a work in progress.
Jaden Brown and Edmonds-Green looked in-experienced and short of confidence as did Reece Brown - which was a surprise as he does have some experience.
The real worry for me wasn't the individual players, but the complete lack of teamwork and pattern of play. It did look like we'd brought a bunch of players together for a trial match, rather than a group of players who have been playing together for weeks.
