I was so hopeful for Bacuna to progess this season but he has without doubt gone backwards.
Is it me or is he overweight and totally lacking in fitness ? He's possibly never been very quick but today he was incredibly slow and, even just coming on as a sub, looked absolutely shattered after about 10 minutes . Physically he's carrying a bit of timber and looks exhausted.

Strange one because he was one of the ones I thought would shine in the championship but he’s done anything but. Looks more out of place than in the prem!

Why is it when players start playing badly they're always accused of being overweight?
He's having a terrible season, partly due to not having Mooy alongside him to take the pressure off him.
Him not being able to pass a ball 10 yards has nothing to do with him possibly being a bit heavier (which I doubt).

I think he needs a decent run in the side. If you're coming on for 10/20 minute cameos and the team needs a goal, you're going to try ultra hard, and sometimes possibly too hard, to try and make that difference, and I think that is potentially what is happening with him ATM.
However I think we was our best and most creative player when he came on against Sheff Weds.
If Pritchard still isn't fit on Tuesday, and Stankovic is at CB/still not getting a look in for CDM in place of Hogg, I would dropp Hogg, play Trevor CDM and have Bacuna and O'Brien box to box. I think that would be a good fit.
Before we signed Simpson I would have been ecstatic to see Bacuna playing RB over Flo!
I think people need to have patience with him, especially considering the amount of patience people have given other players who haven't been playing well for a very long time.

I thought he was seriously overrated last season. Couldn't agree more with that. Everyone was raving about him last season, couldn't see it myself and this season he has been a walking disaster.

Mooy took the ball in tight areas and the opposition crowded Mooy out, giving Bacuna more room. He hasn't adapted to his different role now where the opposition will be more focused on him, and early in the season he was trying to play wonder balls rather than simple ones.

Each to to their own mate but for me he’s done absolutely nothing since he came. He can’t even command a place in a bottom of the league side with an absolutely shite midfield, luckily we only paid £3m for him...

He's come on , he's the only midfielder we have who tries to affect the game offensively. I'm struggling to find what he's done wrong to get slagged off now. We've got a dodgy keeper, one CB that's shit and the other that's confidence is shot, no midfielders with any interest in going forward, 2 starting widemen who's second touch is a tackle yet Bacunas the problem ?

Did anybody see about 5 minutes after he came on Millwall starting breaking forward and no word of a lie bacuna was basically walking back while everyone else was sprinting. Absolutely embarrassing. Millwall then looked dangerous moving the ball around our area and bacuna persisted to stand on the edge of the box in no mans land marking nobody. This guys attitude is awful slowly turning into his brother.😡

It’s probably not what he’s done wrong today(as he didn’t do anything at all) but over a period of time. Doesn’t create anything, doesn’t score, doesn’t really tackle, doesn’t pass to a shirt.Looks and acts lazy, just any body who doesn’t really do very much at all.

To say he was recommended to Town by Ronald Koeman, i was expecting a very good player but has been the opposite. Like so many more! very, very disappointing.

Too much of a wildcard at the minute. Needs to get his head down and put in some hard yards, plays like a brilliant five a side player that’s more interested in taking the piss out of his marker than winning the game.
When he realises that keeping it simple and playing for the team will earn him the opportunity to express himself he’ll be some player.

Millwall then looked dangerous moving the ball around our area and bacuna persisted to stand on the edge of the box in no mans land marking nobody. This guys attitude is awful slowly turning into his brother.😡 I think that was what prompted my opening post. There was unfortunately another time when the man he was marking was running out of their half with the ball and Bacuna, without the ball, was trying to catch him and was losing yuards on him. I'm NOT slagging him off - I thought he looked one of our best players last year - but I DO question his fitness, or his attitude. He just hasn't looked anywhere near as sharp or up for it this season. It may well be his lack of sharpness that has made some of his tackles this season look late and bookable.

We were down by January last season, we all started looking to this year and who might do the biz, Bacuna had a few good games and, collectively,in our need for some positive spark, thought we had Edgar Davids in midfield. In reality he's probably a decent championship player, low on confidence and never been played in a consistent position.
Letting Mooy and Billing leave and not replacing them with anywhere near the same quality is why we can't control a game. Expecting Chalobah, Bacuna & O'Brien to fill those gaps is unrealistic, they might grow into it but the longer we go without a win the more pressure gets put in them.

He was very lucky to survive that incident right at the death when, bizarrely, the ref awarded us a free-kick down near the benches. Looked to me that he made a two-footed jump tackle - maybe he was jumping out of the way of the foul that was penalised, but Neil Harris was incensed. All the Miwaw bench went straight to the 4th official.

Broken his duck - first ever appearance in a winning Town team. And a bonus to have scored the winner too, on the ground where he scored a spectacular own goal last year. (Sorry, but I couldn't be arsed to find one of the other Bacuna threads.) PS it might also be Grant's first win, as I'm not sure that he was still on the pitch when we beat Wolves in February. Edit: thanks for the merge, Admins.
