Well done Bacuna. Did what hed been put on to do.. get forward and support the front lads. And well done Diakhaby for a lovely little ball into him. That'll do his confidence good too.

[br Agreed slaps. Both have the ability to excel in this division; they just need the confidence; hopefully it’s now onwards and upwards for them and the rest of the team

Broken his duck - first ever appearance in a winning Town team. And a bonus to have scored the winner too, on the ground where he scored a spectacular own goal last year. (Sorry, but I couldn't be arsed to find one of the other Bacuna threads.) PS it might also be Grant's first win, as I'm not sure that he was still on the pitch when we beat Wolves in February. Edit: thanks for the merge, Admins. Or to present another way, we have only won matches in 2019 when Bacuna has played.

It's occasionally crossed my mind about how different things might look had Diakhaby squared that ball early on in the Derby game, instead of having a pop himself. Composure - if we can start to build on that little glimmer of composure we should be able to pull ourselves clear, but it will always remain a challenge as to how we pick ourselves up after another defeat. We need to go on a 5+ game unbeaten run to build the confidence.

The goal came about because Bacuna played it in front of Diakhaby so he didn't have to break stride. Too many of our players play passes that are either straight to or behind the man receiving it and slows everything down
Great ball from Bacuna, great pass back to him from Diakhaby and a perfect touch and finish from Bacuna
Class goal really for a side struggling as much as we are for confidence

It's so true what you say. We lose so many opportunities to attack because a ball is not placed in front of the player to run on to. Some of those crap balls are just (edit - 'nearly' 🤣) as bad as say Kachunga's miss, they just aren't as obvious and memorable.

The boy knows how to pick a pass, he was unlucky with the ball in to Grant a bit before the goal.
Danny Cowley spoke very highly of him in his post match interview. Also noted about his off the field problems and that it hasn't been easy for him. Hopefully he can kick on with the form he showed last season. Deserves to replace Chalobah for me. Hasn't been great the last couple of games.

Best post of the night on the Stoke forum mid-way through the second half -
"Who was the Huddersfield player who scored an own goal from about 60 yards the last time we played them? Maybe he could break the deadlock?"

(Grant has the same two victories under his belt) Not to mention that he played a crucial part in the goal against Wolves, winning the ball back and feeding Mooy who put the cross in. It is Diakhaby's first win though as he didn't feature in any of the 3 wins last season.

My favourite bit was where the ref went to tell him to hurry up and get back for the kick off and he decided to do one final celebration, almost smashing the ref with an uppercut!

He had it last season, it was clear to see but yes no doubt the Cowleys have come in and seen he's struggling for form. Danny is clearly very clever and I think his praise in the post match interview after Stoke will have certainly spurred him on.

He showed some good stuff end of last season then nightmare start to this one. Definitely a confidence player hopefully this is as much a turnaround for him as the team.

Danny Cowley allowed him two days to visit his young child, maybe just maybe Bacuna was down in the dumps and needed someone to listen, and they did, giving him chance to spend precious time with family. I know they get well paid, but they are human and sometimes off pitch life can massively effect their on pitch playing.

He plays it forward. Got to start. Offers us something neither Hogg nor Chalobah can provide.

In Cowley's post match after Stoke when questioned on Bacuna, gave a look to the interviewer and said "he's some player him, you know". He will have seen exactly what Ronald Koeman did, and what we've all seen flashes of. There's a seriously good player in there but he's young and he's volatile. Handle him and his current personal difficulties right, which I have 100% faith in Danny to do, and I think we've got a real gem of a player there, I really do.

I was watching him in the shooting drills pre-Millwall. Every shot went in with accuracy and venom, yet he just seemed to be clipping them rather than trying to power them in. Add to that his goal at Stoke where he set himself up off his left foot and finished with his right, and today where he hit is so sweetly on the run.. that boy has some serious technical ability.
