Huddersfield Town’s 5-2 loss away at Blackburn Rovers on Saturday, 24 April 2021, was another inept display with particular emphasis on the woeful defending. And this against a Blackburn side that had nothing to play for. The one bright spot was Josh Koroma who, despite being far from match fit, contributed to the first Town goal and scored the second with a sumptuous curling shot.
Following this result, Town go into the next round of Championship fixtures still in 20th place in the division with 47 points from 44 games. The Terriers are eight points above Rotherham United, in 22nd place, who now have only two matches in hand after four consecutive defeats.
On Saturday, 1 May 2021, KO 15:00 we continue our league campaign at home to Coventry City. This match will not be on the Sky Sports Football red button. It will be purchasable on iFollow for £10 and it will be free to season card holders. The referee selected for this match is Keith Stroud.
This is a very rare fixture. Indeed, since the first encounter in 1919, Coventry have only played at Huddersfield on eight occasions with Town having a 4-1-3 record in all competitions. Our last home clash was on 30 August 1977 when we lost 2-0 in the Second Round of the League Cup. On that day, goals from Jim Holton and Ian Wallace were enough to book City’s place into the next round. That match saw an attendance of 8,577, Towns best turnout of the 1977-78 season. We last played the Warwickshire outfit, in the reverse encounter, on 16 December 2020 when we drew 0-0 at St. Andrew's stadium. This was a fairly even game but Isaac Mbenza should have won it, midway through the first period, when he rounded the goalkeeper, but he put his effort into the side-netting.
In 2019-20 Coventry were promoted from League 1 as Champions. This term they exited the Carabao Cup, in the 2nd Round, at the hands of Gillingham, after having overcome MK Dons. They were eliminated from the FA Cup in the 3rd Round at Norwich City. Following their 1-0 home defeat to Preston North End, on 24 April, the Sky Blues are in 19th place with 51 points from their 44 fixtures. Despite that defeat, they are still fifth in the form table with 12 points from their last six matches. I think that getting a point should be within our capabilities and therefore I am going for the draw. Man to Watch: Maxime Biamou (shirt 9), 30, French striker who Coventry bought from Sutton United in June 2017 for an ‘undisclosed fee’.
Latest PP odds:
Town: 11/8 Draw: 11/5 Coventry: 7/4
We have lengthened again to around 40/1 against being relegated from 25/1 before this round of matches.

Still upset over that poor performance against Blackburn.
CC has shown he doesn't know how to set up defensively nor react when the it's needed. Keogh doesn't have it anymore. Losing faith quickly on Schofield. I thought he was getting to grips with the Championship but then performs like that. I do feel for the lad, I don't think he is ready to be a Championship #1, and he is doing his best. Bacuna actively doesn't try and head the ball, despite being the man on the line. Ward is another who is playing like he should be in a lower league.
Hopefully with a weeks break, those with niggles (looking directly at Pipa) can get over them.
I can't see us getting anything out of this game, nor against Reading.

Crawling to safety by matching the defeats of the teams below us. Depressing to say the least...

Fuck knows what to expect here, what do we do in training? we have no idea on the field,I've never seen a team run out of defence with a ball and lose it as much as Town,or C/Bs standing still waiting for someone to move in front,we should of been hammered by Forest too early in the game but we got lucky, absolute set of dossiers wether it be the players coaching staff or who ever.

We only need to match Derby's result once in the next 2 matches. I'm sure that we will be hoping they lose at Swansea.

I can only see another defeat in this game ,Coventry City seem to have found some form of late , and I honestly believed we were seeing Town in better form , then we go and get thumped by Blackburn Rovers . You just have to hope we manage to stay up thanks to a poor Rotherham United / Derby County side , I just do not see us getting any more points now, maybe Town will surprise me!

I'm afraid Sarr and Keogh have to go, they're both slow and liabilities. Play REG , Stearman and Crichlow, Pipa and Toffolo at the back.. I'd also leave out Bacuna, Holmes, Ward, ...so that leaves Hogg, O'Brien (just),Eiting, Koroma, Rowe, Aarons...High..to select from.
We might get a 0-0 then...

Seen Maxime Biamou, the Coventry striker, play quite a few times for Sutton United, when Sutton weren’t as good then as they are now. I think we need Stearman back to play against him, he could bully REG or Keogh.

What would help is if the players turned in wearing football boots, not flip flops.

I thought Town might win or get at least a draw at Blackburn, not to be and see what thought did... pished the bed and blamed the blanket and all that !
It was hugely worrying how a team of Blackburn’s level cut through Town with such ease and simplicity. Hard to call this one. Coventry had narrow loss on Saturday, how will they react. Probably in a positive manner.
As we seen so much this last few months Town can’t exactly rely on other results to bail us out, but my goodness, how we need Brentford on Tuesday and Swansea on Saturday to do just that.
We absolutely DO NOT want to be going into the last day needing a result at Reading, I don’t think we’d get what was required.
How sad that it’s come to this given where we were at Hogmanay. I still think we’ll scrape it just but another nervy midweek match involving others and utterly massive Saturday fixture card lies in wait...

Starting line up should have
No Keogh
No Sarr
No Bacuna
No Holmes
No Ward
No Mbenza although he’s been missing since 1 Feb so no chance of that

I’ve lost all faith so that likely means a win.
Would help settle the nerves if Rotherham lose against Brentford on Tuesday, but they may rest players for the playoffs.

A nervy 2-1 win for town and survival.
Or more likely is a 2-0 defeat but derby also lose.

We might get a 0-0 then... honestly I'm not sure O'Brien offers enough. Midfield needs tightening, we're way too open and teams just cut through us with ease. I'd drop Bacuna deffo. Problem is due to our fantastic recruitment we have no back ups of any quality as such. Maybe Sarr can do a job in the middle? Reg, Stearman, Crichlow, Pipa and Toffolo at the back? I'm not sure but anything apart from Sarr and Keogh is a win for me.

Maybe
Bacuna in goal, seems to stand in a spot fairly well back 3 of Leitwiler, Schofield and Periera.... at least, in theory they should be able to head the ball if they are the last man on the line. middle 5 of Elphick, Sarr, Keogh, Stearman and One armed Campbell...it'd be the last thing they'd expect Front 2 of Ward and Sanogo, they aren't expected to score anyway, so lul Coventry into a false sense of security....right?

With our now shocking GD it's absolutely crucial that we are safe after the Coventry match. If there is still a remote possibility of relegation going into the final day.....
Well we all remember Birmingham don't we?
