Yesterday we played "hoof" ball without a target man. How is that ever going to work ?
Mipo - A lot of people on here were desperate for this lad to be given some game time.
He got a good half an hour yesterday. It didn't look good did it ? Looked nothing like championship standard. I saw more from Phillips in the short game time he was given last season. However I don't really think any of our "B" team are knocking on the first team door yet.
The last few matches have shown me that our squad isn't anywhere near good enough to mount a serious play-off challenge. The football is dire. Barnsley passed the ball round better than us yesterday. O'Brien and High are very similar players, without Hogg we always struggle.
At the start of the season the back three system worked. Why have we abandoned it ?
The set-pieces have dried up.
Carlos is always full of excuses.
Turton - isn't anywhere near Championship standard. Who could possibly think he was ?
The chairman has disappeared and everything I was told about him is true. He can't afford a football team.
Hoyle is bailing us out again (fair play to him for all the stick he has been given - some from me).
What is the plan ? Do they know ? Does anybody know ?

Poor recruitment seemingly carried out by morons.
Carlos ain’t the one to blame. We’re punching way above where we should be given our squad strength.

Hard to warm to Carlos as a fan..
Like you could with king David..
His English is poor..
His frantic touch line antics..
He’s no rapport with the crowd..
No charisma..
Turgid football..
We all know with this squad he’s trying to polish a turd but still..
Difficult to get enthusiastic about us at the moment..

Nicholls launched it on numerous occasions. Their centre backs won it the air, their midfield picked it up and possession was lost. That for me is "hoof-Ball".
I thought swearing wasn't allowed Admin ? Not offended by it, but is it ? or isn't it ?

I agree to all of what you've said, don't have any answers either though. Hoyle is stepping in to pay the bills but it is in his best interest to do so, he needs the club stabilised to keep it in the Championship, get his debt paid off and hopefully keep it looking as attractive as possible to a potential buyer who can afford a football club.

Playing a long ball isn't hoofball. Playing mostly long balls is.
We certainly didn't do that yesterday. It was slow, walking pace at the back, extra passes we didn't need and a total lack of movement ahead of the ball.
We also saw what a decent job Ward does up top IMO. The hold up play and aerial challengers were non-existent from both Campbell and Mipo.

To be fair, there's nothing wrong with playing hoofball at certain times, if the game calls for it, to get a result. There's more than one way to win a game of football.

But what is the plan ? Our two strikers never got between their midfield and defence. Often the only option for those at the back was to pass sideways. Nobody was getting into space to create a pass, eventually ending up with Nicholls, who then hoofed (occasionally to nobody).
so please somebody tell me what the Fuck Carlos's plan is ?
He has no plan B.
Without sinani or Holmes yesterday he wanted ward to drop in. Not his strength. So why try and do it ?
Campbell is done, all he does is give needless fouls away.
Toffolo - out of form, he misplaced some very casual passes yesterday. Turton gets a nose bleed over the half way and literally has no idea what to do with it, so he passes back or loses it.
Lees stood off Woodrow all game allowing him time to trap and pass to their midfield.
simply dire football. Coached all week my arse.

Exactly, how many times do the fans call for Nichols to get the ball upfield instead of playing it short to the defenders when we’re chasing a result and now when he does it we’re up in arms about it. They can’t win with some people. For me Carlos is over achieving, it might not be great to watch at the moment but the points total is ticking along towards the 50 point mark and that’s all we can ask at the moment. The time to judge him will be when he’s given some proper money to spend, can’t see that being for some time yet.

We simply don't inject enough pace, often enough, into our forward moves. We take an age which is odd most times that we then don't have enough players supporting the forward move or the bloke with the ball. Having watched it week in week out, you come to the conclusion that the opposition 'appear' to have more players on the pitch, which equates to them working up and down harder than we are?

So it’s Carlos’s fault the player’s he’s working with are bang average he has to try get the best out of a bad bunch again nobody comes in and does a better job than he is yes it’s currently dire but pretty sure in the promotion season under the so called king who fucked off when times were hard we didn’t win in November been 11th when we all expected to be 24th isn’t that bad free transfers only get you so far

The players need to move the ball and themselves quicker more often, they are quite capable of doing so but the feeling I keep getting is we are seeing them do 'just enough' and that's the issue. Carlos is either running the tactics or he isn't, if he isn't then he isn't managing. If he is then it's dull and is not bringing the returns it possibly could in some of the games. Whatever you think of the squad and its qualities or failings, the injection of more pace at moving the ball and supporting it better is definitely not above them.

I didn't really see it as hoof ball at all. We generally tried to play out from the back 90% of the time, through into the midfield channels. In defence of Carlos and whatever gameplan he had in mind, it actually worked on several occasions , with us feeding it though the midfield and (usually) O'Brien breaking through with us in great attacking positions. But we just kept cocking it up each time with (usually) Koroma losing possession or failing with that right foot curler that seems to make up his entire box of tricks lately. Barnsley certainly didn't pass the ball around better than us IMO. They weren't that much worse though which is a concern, because frankly they were crap! Agree about Mipo. The lad looks out of hs depth and doesnt seem remotely interested in putting the effort in to make up for that. Had zero impact at all once again. Id much rather see Harrat or Philips given those opportunities than have them wasted on a kid that isn't even our player. If the rumour of us trying and failing to get West Ham to sell him to us for £1m are true, then have to say it looks like for once we dodged an expensive bullet! And Sorba Thomas!! Total passenger. Arrived here looking like a non league player struggling to cope with a level thats above his ability. Miraculously transformed into a potential PL player, getting international call ups and likely to have us receiving bids of £20m soon enough .... and has now reverted back to looking like a non league player once again. Everything about his game was shit yesterday. His basic technical skill.. his passing....his movement,.. his crossing.. his set pieces.. his effort and commitment......all shit. We might as well have started with 10 men. Turton is a basic player. League 1 level in truth. But I actually thought he was one of our better players in that game, just for his effort and because he was willing to drive forward and try and make something happen.

Scored a goal by having one extra player running into the box, the other efforts were shots from distance. There you have it.. They equalised by having one player over. We lack those runners getting past the ball, every week. We did it quite often last season with the triangle moves and then one breaking into the box, or at least running forward of the ball. It's disappeared a bit this year. The extra man is usually not there.

If a couple of the draws this season had been turned into wins, by luck or any other method, and we were still sitting in the top 6 would these questions still be asked? I am not disagreeing with the lack of wow factor in our football but would this thread have been started? We are not playing particularly differently to earlier on this season, just not quite as well, so is it really results posters are upset about? Are we always going to go through this stuff every time we have a poor run? One way of looking at it is Carlos, love him or not, is getting a bunch of players to punch above their weight as a team. Given that DH has to put money into the club every month to pay the wages we are obviously not flush with cash, which is one of the reasons we have a lot of average players for this division. Some will say this is partly due to DH taking his cash back but if it is a loan then it is a debt, and the club have to service that sometime, and Carlos gets no say in that. Getting players on a free, or for very little money, and them still turning out OK at this level is quite a skill. Most of us were praising Pearson, Colwill, Lees & Nicholls and others earlier this year but now we are back to claims of 'crap recruitment'. Are we just a fickle bunch?

Have to decide are we going to be a bit braver, work a bit harder and see where it takes us this year, or continue with playing out games we are losing in and giving away points in games we are winning in?
We do seem to have decided that games we are behind in have been lost and games we are winning in by a goal will sort themselves out by the opponents failing to score. Neither is anything like a positive mental attitude and neither will produce enough results to make us anything other than lower mid table by May.
If that's enough for the club and enough fans it's hard to see any other outcome than a drift down.

I personally think the set pieces have dried up as it was obvious this was our threat. Teams are now defending in numbers at our set pieces. People will realise we dont have must effect in open play, so wont actually worry too much about that.
In terms of long ball, I would like to hope this is more a direct playing style, where the long ball is supposed to switch the play (Colwill does this regularly) and catch the opposition on the break.
Like most of us, it isnt very entertaining to watch, but, our defence is much more organised. Identify last seasons issues which was conceding for fun. It has come at a cost as although we conceded lots, we actually scored a few.
I believe Mipo hasnt worked out as we had hoped, if he is to go back in Jan, that will free up another striker on loan hopefully.
At the end of the day, majority would have accepted low mid table at the start of the season, our good but inconsistent start has upped a few expectations, but we wont go down, so let's enjoy it as much as we can.

His first opportunity to “meet” the fans was at the wendies away in the cup and he merely clapped as if it was a contractual thing to do so no passion no nothing. We’d just won on pens. Not a major scalp but the 🤷♂️. Didn’t seem bothered. If he was a genius that had us sitting at the top of the table clear by 12 points yep great but the shit we have in reality not sure. Is heir wagner busy?
