Like a good number of fans ( who went to Coventry) mostly elderly and family’s with young children I do not want to stand up and watch the game I have a bad leg and it’s not pleasant. When I purchased the tickets from the ticket office after the Barnsley game I asked for 3 tickets away from the middle of the goal only to be given 3 tickets in the centre row. The staff in the ticket office don’t help and don’t actually seem to care. How long would it take for someone in the ticket office to look at the layout and designate where possible a sitting area for fans.
Sue Beaumont was superb, always willing to help ( please come back Sue even though I know you can’t) but I think the club should take account of people’s requirement and create a seating area in the allocation of tickets received or ask the home club to designate an area.

Completely agree. I had minor surgery on my knee, didnt require crutches or anything after, but standing, especially still, was a big no.
I asked 3 lads in front of me at Reading if they could sit down as I could not see and all i got was abuse.
'Take it you dont go away much'
'Who wants to sit at away games you bore'
'Liven up you grumpy twat'
These are the remarks I got.
I explained my situation to which the reply was.
' not our fault, we paid the same so we will do what we want'
'Deal with it, a true fan would make the pain worth it and stand'
All this, because ticket office said they didnt know where abouts fans would be standing.

I and a couple friends have the same problem and have been asking for this for some years. However, I had the opposite experience for the Coventry game. The young lady in the ticket office was very helpful and found us a block of tickets over one of the tunnels. Great view, no one to stand up in front of us, and were able to sit throughout. However, it needs a proper solution considering the number of supporters affected.

You'd think it possible to designate the first 5 or 6 rows at the front for fans that want / need to sit and only.

TIP: Rather than asking them to sit down, ask them if they wouldn't mind changing seats. I've done this a few times and they've always obliged. I'm sure you asked very politely if they'd sit, but I've noticed that's usually not the case. "F*cking sit down" isn't always interpreted in the polite way it's meant NB, York Terrier I accept it should be possible to identify seats where you don't have to worry about not being able to sit, but no one should have had a problem sitting at Coventry. I moved to a seat where you could sit with an excellent view, and their were plenty of similar seats around me.

I agree with your point and understand that you should be able to sit down and watch the game. However, that particular day there were loads of seats available to sit in. You could have moved. But I appreciate most games you wouldn’t be able to and I suppose your point would be, why should you? Which would be a valid point.

At Coventry I moved and sat on the seats near the corner flag so I actually got to sit down and I noticed lots of others changed seats to sit in the same area. I think giving the first 6 or 7 rows is a good idea how hard would that be to implement? Not very I bet. Asking to swop would only work if no one was standing in front of the person you swapped with. At Boro in row mm or something 3 rows from the back I would have needed to swap 32 rows and that’s even if the front 6 where seating rows.

The bit about asking to change seats was more a response to rockwalls post. What I would say though is that it's also a bit unrealistic asking someone to sit down if there are 30 people in front of them standing.

Away fans coming to Town are asked. Do you want a ticket in the Charging towards the Cowshed Section . or the Section marked “ Not watch the game but hurl abuse towards the Cowshed Area. !

Surely the first few rows will pretty much always be available when buying, if requested at the ticket office? I notice that people tend to sit down on the first 2-3 rows so wouldn't this solve the problem?

Turned up at Coventry with my back issue flared up. Thankfully I was on the back row so could stand leaning against the wall.
But I agree there should be some way of having seats allocated towards the front for those who want to sit down

I emailed our ticket office as my seat for Coventry was at the back. I’m only 5ft so I asked if I could move seats nearer to the front and at the end of the row. It was done by a lovely chap called Dan. He changed my coach as well so I could be with some friends.

Remember going to West Brom away and not only was everyone standing but some cheeky bastard and his foul mouthed girlfriend were in my seat space. I pointed out twice they were in my seat before they eventually took notice then they stood in the space designated for 1 person next to it so 3 of us covering 2 seats. I think that was the last away league match I've been to and not missed it a bit. Forest away in the cup was a PITA standing all way through as well. Reminded me why I'd stopped going away much.

It is a problem, I prefer to stand at games, away have, but in an all seater stadium would only stand if the others me were doing so, all seater stadiums are a pain, but at end of the day it is not fair to stand in front of someone who isn't able to for long periods. Also should not be hurling abuse at people, at the end of the day it is a rule to stay seated, it is a big debate, also safe standing has started, probably won't solve the issue, but it should help to a degree.

It’s a tough one, i’d never sit down no matter how nicely i was asked if someone in front of me was stood and i’d never ask those in front of me to sit down as i have been asked to do.
As said above though i do offer to swap seats and most of the time there are spare seats/blocks which i’ve sat in when trying to avoid Covid.

Rail seating sections for both Home and Away fans at all grounds will solve the problem. Allow those that want to stand to do so and those that want to sit to do so

Like boooothy says it is a tough 1, I'm on both sides, I had heart surgery and the club moved our seats as we were in FMU, I can stand fine now for a game and even longer but some cannot, I know how people must feel who shell out a lot of cash for an away day, and get frustrated peeping around someone's backside for 90+ mins. Maybe as a group on here could do a survey looking at a way around it, then contact the club quite a few on here can have an input, obviously league status will depend on what happens next season with ticketing, lads on here have fought for the north/south stand, with great respect on my side, took a lot of crap, but at end of the day it has worked, cannot see why a ticketing system cannot be devised for all fans physical needs?.

I'm aware this has been discussed before, best solution was book seats from front left for sitting & back right for standing and a natural border with satisfaction for all will result. Problem is ticket master and partial allocations, but the principle is sound.

Allow those that want to stand to do so and those that want to sit to do so You still won't be able to see over the top of someone standing in front of you if you're sitting down! The idea being that rail seating is essentially another term for safe standing. So everyone going into a rail seating area is going there with the intention of standing. Those wanting to sit won’t go into that area. They’ll go in a ‘normal’ seating area. Bit like the Terrace and the stand at Leeds Road. Go in the Terrace is you want to stand up. Go in the stand if you want to sit down

Would mean all 3 of us swapping. The mood this group were in, they would not have accepted that suggestion either. Tbh, I normally do not mind, I am a stander myself but always gauge who is behind and read the situation.

The saddest thing about all this is the total lack of respect for a fellow Town supporter. No need for any abuse to directed at the person/s who ask them to sit down
