One game into the season and probably the hardest game of the season coming up at the weekend and we make 10 changes to a team that lost its first game of the season. Put the best team out every game if Boro don’t then we could have hopefully scored a few and faced Leicester with a spring in our step.

Play weakened teams in cups, rest players for certain games and then bring them back for games you think you can get something from. It rarely seems to work and is more embarrassing than ever when it fails🤔 Must be in the coaching manuals somewhere although I thought Neil was far more his own man? Im not sure what the difference between giving up the Burnley game last year and giving up saturdays game would be, we have the same team almost??? Its at home?  ? Who knows, lets see .. |

I fully understand the sentiment here and ordinarily id agree.
From what ive read though, NW needed to see some fringe lads to ascertain yay or nay or loan out for some this season. Last night represented his only chance to do so.
I hate the way the club has refused to commit to cup competitions over recent yrs but NW gets a pass given he told us what he was doing.

Last night represented his only chance to do so. I hate the way the club has refused to commit to cup competitions over recent yrs but NW gets a pass given he told us what he was doing. I didn't mind what he did re the starting line up, but i did mind the unnecessary (IMO) changes made second half when we still had a chance of getting something from the game (eg straight to pens), that immediately handed the initiative to Boro and left us with a full B team at best on the field. |
