Who although not happy with not winning yesturday, am not that upset. I thought Bristol were the better team overall and am therefore happy with a point. I thought yesurday the players battled for a result. I thought every player put in the effort (possible exception of Dickinson, he turned in a preformance in which I discribed him as a Complete Donkey after two games, but I have to admit Im slowly warming to the lad). Stuff did not come off for Town and maybe this was a problem with the tactics or the players not preforming, prehaps the wrong players were picked. However, I think that as I say the effort was there. The last 15-20 minutes were frustrating a Town looked incapable of passing to each other and did not get the ball into the box when they should. As was pointed out to me at the time quite often it looked like no body wanted the ball, however I have to say that I think this should be put in the context of the crowd getting on the back for every little mistake made. Perhaps there was a reluctance to cross the ball as we hardly won a header in there box all match.
One thing I disagree with what has been mentioned further down is on Wothington. Where I agree that his ball distribution can be eratic at times, I believe he is hugely important in holding the midfield together. As well as putting 100% in, he breaks up play well and covers for other players well. For example when centre halfs push up for set pieces and then have to come back when Town have lost the ball. I think this is a very important role and I have yet to see anyone in the current squad he can do this in my opinion vital role as well as he does. On the evidence of last season I think Berrett could do this, as he appears to have been made for such a role, but at the moment he does not appear to be in Ternants immediate plans. I don't think Worthingtons best role is a holding midfielder.

From the games I've seen Goodwin play the holding midfield holding role. (mainly Arsenal game but that was a friendly). He seemed ok in it. Nowt special but did the necessary ugly work, similar to Worthy.

I don't think Worthingtons best role is a holding midfielder. Me either. If it were me, i'd play Jim Goodwin in the holding role (where he played fro Scunthorpe when they got promotted) and put Andy Holdsworth back in at Right Back.

Worthy put in a decent shift yesterday as he always does. Won plenty of tackles and broke their play up in midfield. Was surprised when he was taken off because out of him and Flynn, it was Flynn who after a good start had disappeared completely out of the game. Goodwin started the season as a holding midfielder and was poor, barely putting a challenge in.
If we go back to 442 when Dickinson leaves which Id imagine we will, Id drop Flynn and replace him with Holdsworth in the middle. 451 suits Flynn, he can get forward and score goals but with 442 you need a more creative midfielder than him, and Holdsworth fits the bill far better IMO.

Drop Flynn and where will our goals come from?? - he's top scorer now I believe

Maybe in the league. I think that he's joint overall on 5 with Roberts now?

Take your worthy blinkers off slapps - he is just not good enough. He does win tackles but then gives the bloody ball straight back to the opposition. He doesnt score or create goals as the forward player, nor is he physically strong enough or read the game well enough to play the holding role. Drop him and give goodwin a run in the holding role, returning holdsworth to right back. Goodwin has not had a run in the holding role but he did it for scunny when they won promotion and that is good enough to warrant a run there. Flynn is the best centre mid player we have and should be left bthere-not moved around to accomodate inferior players.

Maybe I have Worthy blinkers too. Or maybe its just the fact he was the only player running around putting any effort in at all. As far as I'm concerned, Worthy & Clarke were the only players to put any kind of performance in at all. Flynn had a good first half I thought, Crainey was anonymous all game and that was the big problem. Flynn scores goals & gets played up front against swindon. so why isnt he given the free role?
As for Goodwin, i thought he looked the best signing all through pre-season, but he hasnt performed at right back or centre back all through the season proper. And can anyone please tel me what holdsworth has done wrong at right back at all this season?
