Over the past few yearswe have had a large number of managers who have left before they even arrived but I can't remember one being so unpopular so soon as Stan Ternant. I can't remember Ritchie gettin loads of flack til late in his short tenure, Jacko had 3 season with the majority on side, Wadsworth had a few months where he was ok, Stan had about two minutes. Is he suffering cos we're bad or because we've been truly abject for the past 2 years or so. Are we booing Stan or just Town in general. We can't just sack him as what kind of message does that convey to other teams and other prospective managers. With a bit of luck we'll turn this round. We need some tweaks and one or 2 changes but there are signs of improvement. We need to delay our gratification a bit.

Wadsworth would have done better than this with similar money imo

Money does not mean instant success. The sooner folk realise this the better.
Look at some of the teams in the Championship. Some have spent millions over the past 10 years, and are no further forward than what they were to begin with.
With stability, comes succcess.

I was only answering his question of why Stan has had less time with the fans.

But we have given him anywhere near enough time? I'm struggling to take us seriously at the moment, booing when we don't get our way, calling for the managers head after 10 games!!! Its a piss poor attitude and the us against them attitude is helping nobody.

Stan`s attitude and wanton wastage of money, which were not made available to previous managers, has gone a long way to creating this early division between fans.
If he stays and we do better than we look as though we are going to do at the moment then someone can save this post and I`ll happily eat my words.

I don't particuarly like Stan Ternant, think his style is outdated but whilst he is Town manager he will have my full support and that will remain until the day he leaves. I want whoever the Town manager is to be a success and any other thought is just illogical.

IMO the reason that Stan is relatively unpopular so quickly is his horrible P.R. - That the football is awful cannot be denied, but his remarks after yesterday's game during the interview on Radio Leeds to the effect that we had seen a decent game & the fans "wanting beer at champ......"etc. were at best, ill-considered, & at worst, downright arrogant. Obviously he & his staff are the "experts" on football matters but a little communication (attend a few fans forums etc.) & an aknowledgement that we (the paying customers) have some valid opinions wouldn't go far amiss.

He has surely been in the management game long enough to have got his PR right?

In my honest, humble opinion,
Stan Ternent is a twat!
He treats us loyal, passionate supporters as though we are shit on the bottom of his shoes, He thinks there's a media conspiracy against him, But the biggest reason i can't stand him is that tirade he went on at poor old Oggy on the radio (I forget which game it was)
And, HES A LANC!

How does he treat us like sh**? Just because he gave Oggy a hard time he thinks there's a media conspiracy? I don't get how you come to this conclusion? He's not even a Lancastrian... I don't get any part of your rant...

Not read his book then? He's from Teeside, a Sunderland supporter back in the day. I have no time for him, his comments do nothing to endear me and it grieves me that he has had more money than the last 3 managers put together and, Roberts and maybe Flynn aside, bought nothing more than we already had. I'm ready for the flack my next comment will get.... ...imagine what Jacko could have done with that budget. It breaks my heart, it really does** **disclaimer** I have been drinking.

I have asked the question numerous times and still nobody has answered it: Saying we do the retarded thing and sack Stan, then bring in a new manager who has an equally poor start, what then? Do we sack them as well? And so on until someone gives us the instant success we as fans most definitely deserve?

I dont think we will sack ST now anyway - but if by Christmas we are 16th/17th - would you give him any backing in the January transfer window if you were DH?
I wouldnt - and would get rid of him.
Then i would give the new guy some backing in the January, hope we can improve, give him time to know the players, let him make changes (in and out) in the summer - then see how we go next season.
Not ideal - but if we dont improve over the next couple of months then the season will be gone before it has even started....
