John Ward and Aidy Boothroyd take their teams into the play offs last season and within 15 games of the next one are out of a job because things haven't gone as planned 2 clubs punching well above their weight and both chaps did a great job IMO. Boothroyd i know first hand through my mate playing for Watford. But all of a sudden they hit a bit of turbulence and they are out on their ears. Boothroyd is told to trim the wage bill in the summer and out go his best players. What did they expect? play offs again? - ward has to sell his best striker and keeper. Again, shafted by the board The chairmen and boards of this game are mostly an embarrassment. And this today proves what fickle, pathetic people we have running the clubs. I do wonder what the game will be like in 1/2 years? 6 months will be a good innings for a manager As i put in my title. The game is becoming a farce and becoming a big big turn off. 2 good managers out of jobs. sense of perspective FFS

Agree You've got to feel for them - I mean look at stan, he's doubled the wage bill, brought in 12 players and has similar records as them and still has a job! But both suffering play off hangovers and as you say, lost key players - wtaford have sold something like £17m worth of players in the last two close seasons. Whilst watford have struggled since xmas last year, he lost £4m of players in the summer - even town fans would have patience with that given the success he managed beforehand. That said, look at jacko - 1 bad season in 6 arguably (moaner will argue) - from the outside it looks like the situation you describe above.

So they had no backing at all, in fact worse than that had to get rid of their best players, and have got sacked for a similar 1st third of the season that our manager has managed with tremendous backing? Think ternent should feel lucky to still be in a job when he sees how his peers are judged. Some club will take advantage of watford's mistake. Let's hope its us.

I'm going to have some little badges made up for you that say 'doubled the wage bill!' and 'signed 12 players!' They are your catchphrases.

what do you think of us getting boothroyd mate , imo it would be a great appointment..? not sure the style of play would be a big issue as it is now with stanley. Very direct. And not much different to what we are seeing here though obviously the results would be key! Mate says he is the best motivator he has ever worked with and he did play for warnock. Used dvds just before the kick off with inspirational themes like gladiator etc!! It worked though! Each player would choose the dvd and take it in turns to do the pre match speech

I think boothroyds stock is high enough still for him to get a championship club. Charlton will be available soon!

even town fans would have patience with that given the success he managed beforehand not once have they chanted for his head and they sing his name at every game. Mate said its come as a huge shock to all the players. Noone saw it coming!

It is I agree, but with an owner like hoyle plus the fact he has a history here, who's to say he wouldn't be tempted to drop a division? Charlton is a good point but I heard they're insuch a financial mess, they can't afford to sack pardew. ( It would have already happened I think ,if they could!) If there is a chance of this,I hope they act as soon as possible rather than waiting for our next embarrassing defeat. Id hate to think we'd miss out for the sake of a week or two.

Tom
Whilst you're making the badges, perhaps you can design yourself one listing all the reasons why you think the Geordie Messiah will "turn it around".
Should fit easily on a button badge - because you never have an answer when asked the question.
