That's all Ternent got, that's all Boothroyd got and that's more than John Ward got. So how many points does the new man need to get to avoid the sack after 15 games?

24 points in the League from 15 games and at least 2 cup victories will do me!

True he did....but sometimes things just aren't right and have to be rectified....however harsh it appears on the face of it. The next manager will be the choice of the next Chairman, and will have his full support, financially and otherwise. So to answer your question he will have a lot longer to build his squad and progress our club.

its 18 competitive games, plus the friendlies, plus the games last season he could use to assess what we needed. You could argue that that isn't enough, but the problem is that is plenty to expect to see signs that we are at least heading in the right direction. I don't think ternent had any more idea now what his best team is or what formation they should play ,than he did when we went to Bury for the first friendly. There was no sign of any tangible gameplan. No sign that things were improving. the second half performance against the Crewe-the worst team in the division, was as bad as we've looked all season! Things were clearly not getting any better. hed lost the fans and hed lost most of the players. There wasn't anything happenning at all to even suggest that things were likely to start improving.

My guess is that promotion this season won’t be a requirement so the new man will have at least twelve months plus.

Nah to my mind this season is a write off now IMO - harsh but realistic
Ternent has left us so far off the pace it will take something really good to get us up there - not that I don't think it can happen just that I'm not expecting it
That said the new manager can have the next 30 games to get things moving IMO, then have a proper crack in 09/10.

Unlike ternent, the new guy will be largely opperating with the previous managers squad. It wouldn't be fair to judge him until hes been able to shape his own group of players ( probably in the summer). Then he'll be judged on the results he gets just like all managers are.

Well, just to keep you on your toes, I am going to disagree with you Hudds lad. The season is not yet over, and while I wont be using my pocket money to place a bet, we still have a chance, slim though it may be, of making the playoffs. Stranger things have happened. Where there is life there is hope, and there is life at HTAFC, so we can and should hope. As you said in another post, it is definately time for us to be backing Dean, and the new manager (yesssss please let it be Boothroyd), and get every bit of positive thinking and action that we as supporters can muster behind them. Long live Huddersfield Town ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Wow, all of a sudden you are bringing fairness into the argument.
Unless of course you dont like the new manager and then you will be off again, probably around Xmas at a guess.

Ternents been judged fairly. He can't have any complaints.
I'll like the next manager if he does a good job, or at least shows signs that he will do a good job given time. ternent did neither. Its not rocket science!

And if after 7 or 8 games (which is roughly when you wanted him out) if you dont see a sign then the whole process will start again.
