It's simple! since Jacko promoted us to the dizzy heights of division 3 football four years ago our defence and midfield has been under strength. Mirfin and Clarke we got to know didn't work. Ritchie then was appointed and bought in Robbie Williams, as his defensive signing, oh dear!,though he did bring in Page(to late) , and suddenly we didn't leak as many goals. Ternant soon sent Page packing, and bought in Unsworth and Lucketti, oh dear. What i'm trying to say is maybe we do need a winger or two, but our main problem in the last four years is our defending, so when the new manager is brought in his first signings have to be defenders, defensive midfielders! I believe you can tell how good a new manager is with his first two or three signings, over to you Hoyle/Davy

totally agree, people say we dont score enough but we've scored in nearly every game this season bar 3 i think. Problem is only 2 league clean sheets.

The defence was pretty water tight the last time Gerry Murphy was in charge and we played 352 - didn't we go 4 or 5 games without conceding?
Shame ST chose to dismantle that (Page and Mirfin left) rather than build on it!

I think its defence rather than keeper - an example of this is the number of times teams have burst through to go 1 on 1... whether we recover or not doesn't matter because the better teams will punuish this.
Especially if getting to the Championship soon is the goal, as that will be exposed relentlessly.
I'm not just saying the back 4 when I say defence - I'm including the midfield in that as well really. Hopefully this will be addressed though.

new centre back and goalkeeper are the prioities in my opionion.
we can work with the present full backs. surely david unsworth is better than he has shown us this year. and robbie williams aint too bad.

I'd still want a right back, winger and striker
Frankly I'd be prepared to have a fire sale of one of Craney or Flynn (we don't need both) to pay for one of those on my wish list!

Having seen the team a lot this season including the shambles at Peterborough, we need not only a smarter and stronger defence but a new keeper who commands his area much better than Glenda. At present he has no competition and not a great deal of confidence. Get a good and tried keeper in, the goals against so early in the season does not lie.
