..... it needs to be an appointment with the future in mind and by that I mean from both the board and the fans point of view!!
We are almost certainly looking at next season......if we weren't already so....
Dean - Please don't appoint someone and then tell us that the play offs are the aim this season!!!
As for us fans, it's now time after 4 years of 'in fighting' to back the new man, whether we agree with the appointment or not (and we probably won't!!) and quit the 'treatment' some of the players have been subjected to recently!!!
Good luck Dean in your pursuit of the right man!!!

don;t see the point in making aim's public and making grand statements like "promotion is the aim" etc
there's no need and it just leads to trouble appoint a good manager and give him some money to spend on players and the fans will be happy
publicly announcing the club's targets does no good to anyone

Why couldn't we have done that for Stan's team and what's to stop us being here again in 20 games. Why couldn't we have done that for Stan's team and what's to stop us being here again in 20 games. Because Stan had time at the end of last season, pre-season and 46 games, together with substantial backing and the transfer window open, the play-offs were a reasonable target. Now, they aren’t.

How can you possibly say that they Playoffs are not still a reasonable target, with three quarters of the season to play? Because we would need two points per game, that's championship form and we're stuck with what we've got for the next 12 or so games. So I think the play-offs are a pretty long shot.

Surely we are in a better postion points wise than Leeds were at the same time last season!!!
I dont think Play-offs are out of the question if the new gaffer hits the ground running.

Leeds showed championship form all season. The play-offs are not impossible, just very difficult and I wouldn't expect a manager to accept them as a requirement.

A new managers own ambitions should be to reach the playoffs. If he achieves top 10 then it will be an improvement on last couple of seasons and a springboard for next season. Hopefully a young manager with some experience and authority will be appointed. Aidy Boothroyd and perhaps Nigel Clough fit the bill for me.

Leeds showed championship form all season. Not quite, as they did not match Swansea's haul of 92 Pts(2 per game)
