There have been many in support of the sacking and also a good few concerned by this decision. Although I would agree decisions like this do not provide stability overall I think it was the right thing to do.
Many will point to the atmosphere in the club, many will point to team and squad selection but at the end of the day Stan lost his job for one reason - performances on the pitch. There will be few who can present a credible defence for Stan's tactics. Our lack of a clear plan and system have ultimately cost him his job.
Irrespective of what we think this has been very costly for the club and a painful lesson for those responsible. Dean must have taken the view that if he was to spend more that he needed to entrust that money to someone he had faith in.
The main positive from today is that Dean is showing clear leadership, this is something the club has lacked for many years. There are no gaurantees that the next manager, whoever that maybe, will be successful but I saw enough for me to think there was sufficient doubt that Stan would ever deliver success. On that basis alone this was the right decision.
Going forward lets hope for a footballing manager who can engage with all parties and not alienate the vast majority he engages with.
Another positive is the removal of Watson - long over due imho.
Onward and upward.

I'm nearly as thrilled Watson has gone as I am that Stan has.

I think Jepson and Docherty going is on a par with ST going.
For me if 1 of them was going, all of them had to go.

Watson should have one after the Doncaster debacle last year...
Ronnie and Docherty also had to follow, no value in keeping them either.

Ternant brought in Goodwin, Unsworth, and Lucketti to an already creaky defence, that's what got him the sack!

How long did Stan think he needed?
As Dugnet points out, no pattern of play had developed in one third of a season, personnel changed on a regular basis, and we were 5 minutes away from a total of 2 points from home games against 2 of the bottom teams in the division.
Worse still, there was disquiet in the camp, the Academy recruitment would have taken a step backwards, and the positions we were weak in last season are still the weaker ones despite 11 new recruits.
Hopefully Town will now have a better chance of surviving round 1 of the FA Cup.
