My ramblings for what its worth;
Not sure i am in favour of stan going or not to be honest - Burnley fans suggested it would get a lot worse before it got better and i was prepared to give him time, however i certainly had my doubts abouts some of his signings and him deciding Page wasnt for us, which i thought was a big mistake. Also thought the appointment of Ronnie J was a mistake.
I personally think after last Saturday DH didnt have any choice. I have been watching Town for nearly 20 years and i dont think i have ever been in the stadium where there has been such a nasty atmosphere towards the management team, which then spills into frustration from the fans to the players, who then become scared to make mistakes. Bearing in mind the buoyant mood of the club pre-season, the change has been unbelievable and DH obviously picked up on that. Being a huge town fan as well as chairman (elect), DH would have realised that Stan had lost the fans, and being the centenary season, time wasnt something he had to turn it round so he bite the bullet.
Next manager? Boothroyd - is he that good? honestly dont know that much about him except he plays long ball, which personally i am not that bothered about as long as it gets us out of this god awful division. However, he is also going to need time, and if the results dont come quick and we are still playing long ball, how long before the boos come?
My personal choice would be Davies, but i think it is very unlikely; in fact i would be surprised if either of the above came, but its good the speculate.
All i ask now, and i know this has been mentioned below, is please, no matter who it is, whether you agree or not, please, please give him a chance and support him. This booing culture has to stop as it really doesnt help the situation, there are times when i have my head in hands at matches cos i am embarrassed (about the reaction of our fans more than the standard of football) I run a company, employing nearly 20 people. If one i my managers came in to the office and we all roundly booed him after a bad day the day before, i wouldnt really expect him to perk up. Would you?
Anyway, thats my pointless ramblings for what its worth.

You are spot on about the booing culture, I fear we will never rid ourselves of that.
Stan didn't do himself any favours to endear himself though did he? The majority will support someone they can relate to and like.

I think you make some interesting points, not rambling at all. I honestly don't think Stan had long enough at the job but we could not go on like we were with all the infighting and the fans animosity to him.
My own view is that Stan was a poor ambassador for the club with his aggressive post match comments, i.e that interview with Oggie, and Dean Hoyle would have picked up on that I'm sure.

The anti-stan chants had no baring on this at all, not for Hoyle and i doubt for davy either as he wasn't even there. The dye had already been cast well before saturday. Not sure what prompted it to happen now, as appose to after the next shocking result but I hope it was the news from watford yesterday.

I agree with kosi - we knew exactly what were getting; everyone said we needed a no no nonsense manager after Ritchie, so we got one. 15 matches later he's too no nasty, so we now what do we want? Not too nasty but not too nice?

Oh c'mon kosi! If you were Hoyle and you'd allowed a guy who wasn't your choice in the first place, to double the wage bill, bring in a dozen players of his choice spending £500k in fees on the way, and all his own choice of backroom staff, only to watch the utter crap we've had this season, which is even worse than the crap the previous manager dished up that made you compelled to step forward and do something about it anyway. And then you hear this manager prattle on about people 'expecting champagne football on beer money' !! You trying to tell me he didn't deserve to be beaten up with that ridiculous comment?
If a manager is getting great results he can say all kind of garbage and get away with it. if his team's struggling near therelegation zone he should watch what he says. Surely someone with all this experience ternent is supposed to bring to the table, should know that!

I think we wanted someone more determined after Ritchie but I am not sure we were ever prepared for the unique character that was Stan. There may well have been some sound reasons for his decisions but his application showed a distinct lack of sensitivity and guile.
If you choose to alienate the majority it makes life very difficult. I am sure he will say that he needed more time. The time would be used to create an environment he could fucntion in. Those who hired him must have known this though, perhaps even they didn't expect the atmosphere that he created.
Would he have ever succeeded and been popular? The first 6 months would suggest it would at least have been difficult.
