So Flynn goes to Darlington. I really can't see why it's a big deal. He scored a couple of good goals, played ONE decent match as far as I can see (Sheff Utd) and is as one-paced and invisible as all the Blackpool fans told us he was going to be.
I don't wish the man ill, but if we were genuinely thinking that he would be one of our central midfield players then I despair.
We've needed a decent central midfield player for ages now, but I'm afraid that Flynn was just one of several that Stan brought in that are nowhere near consistent enough, influential enough or energetic enough to do the job in a promotion winning side. I might be sounding hyper-critical but Flynn was the type of journeyman that we could get anytime we wanted.

For me the fuss is partially because of Flynn, but mostly about us not getting in a striker today and killing of a season in november. Well done!

I agree with wigster. As for the season being over: it was over before Stan left.

We could pick up a central midfielder with that amounts of goals in him whenever we wanted?
I think you're living in dreamland. I'd take Flynn over Collins any day of the week.

Flynn was one of the few decent signings that ternent made simple as. He's banged 5 goals in so far and im sure there would be plenty more to come but i just dont understand why he needs to be loaned out. All it needed was to put him in the reserves next week then back in the team the week after as long as he is fit. To loan the one of the most prolific midfielders in the team is well just F*ckin ridicolous.

Season over? Why? We beat Leeds and Brighton away from home without this striker we so desperately need so why can't we win other games?
I'm not disagreeing with the fact we do eventually need a goalscorer but to say its over is a bit over the top isn't it? Just because we failed to score on Tuesday when if the ref had given at least 2 clear penalties we might just have won 2-1, and would you still be saying the same then?

Have to say that if half the chances on Tuesday night on the edge of the box had fallen to Flynn then their keeper would have had more to do. He seemed like the only midfielder that we had that could strike a ball on the move from outside the box and make the keeper work.
I for one hope flynn comes back and the new boss plays him in his best position (which isnt the left wing!) cause I can see him getting double figures.

How can you possibly know if Flynn would have done better on Tuesday or not? Flynn played against Yeovil which was a very similar game to the Orient one and that finished 0-0. He's been largely ineffective from what i've seen of him and I can't say I'm that bothered he's gone. Goodwin, Craney, Berret and Collins would all be ahead of him in midfield for me.

We have just lost two home games against mediocre at best opposition and won two away games against better opposition - why?? Because we arent good enough or consistent enough to do any better!!!! Winning at leeds and brighton has hidden glaring deficiencies with the club - the back four cant keep a clean sheet (2 in 20 games!!!), we havent got a settled midfield because of in-fighting between the former and current caretaker manager who had completely different opinions and now dickinson has gone and booth is injured we have no punch upfront!!! I just wish people would wake up and smell the coffee - the football might be slightly easier on the eye for some but it sure as hell aint good enough to get us out of this league!!!!!!!!! We need big change and bloody quick - I just hope to god that Mr Hoyle picks the right man and the fans get behind whoever is appointed cos it will take some time to sort this mess out.

Bloody hell, alright! So if Murphy can pick up a few points here and there before January and we then get a new manager in, possibly with a bit of money to strengthen, then why does the season have to be over? We'd be what, 10 or 12 points of the pace? Is it really hard to make that margin up in a somewhat inconsistent league? In no way am I stating that I think we're good enough at the moment, far from it, but if Hoyle does get the right man then I don't see how people can say its over right at this very moment in time. We've proved we're capable of winning with this squad even if it is tough going and bloody hard work but all we need is a few points until January and I still think we're very much still in there! Of course this theory only works if we do get the right manager

We havent put a run together at a crucial time of the season for over 3 years now - oct/nov 05 from memory!! (You cdant count the end of last season cos it wasnt crucial as we had nothing to play for!)

Craney being the only one that even trys to shoot from outside the box. All I'm saying is that Flynn in my opinion would have worked their keeper with the opportunities that were presented on Tuesday night.
I would also say that no I wasnt at the Yeovil game, but I was there on Tuesday and Goodwin, Craney, Berret (playing sweeper so no expectations), Collins and Worthington were as ineffective as Flynn may well have been against Yeovil in front of goal. Even with Collins goal run of late, Flynn has a better record and I would have said that he would have scored more goals than our other named midfielders put together.
I can't remember a time of recent when a town player has strung a succession of matches together were they've set the world alight, granted that they all have good games but to get promoted we need players to be having good seasons!!!

I can't give you all the details or state my source for obvious reasons. What I can tell you is that my source is genuine, senior, in the know and owns an abundance of eagles to help with the upkeep of his grapevine. But it has come to light since the departure of the ever confusing Stan Ternant, that we are indeed looking into the possibility of going up. Should we be able to pull this off, a vast array of items will be have to be slightly altered. I trust this clarifies things.

Anyway, your not gonna change my mind cos I'm not gonna give up on the season just yet, and I doubt Hoyle will either to that matter. Plenty to play for and I refuse to be down in the dumps at the hands of this bloody club again so I'm gonna remain positive! COME ON TOWN!! ;D

Am glad you are remaining positive pompey - i on the other hand am getting increasingly worried by what is going on at the club to be honest!! I would be happy to let this season pass without event if it meant we got the right man in because we need a strong character who really challenges all areas of the club to deliver bigger and better things!! At present, the signings on big wages aint doing it consistently, the local first teamers are as inconsistent as ever, and berret excepted there doesnt seem to be a young lad ready to step up at present either - thing i should go and lie down!!!

Exhibit A - Our Strikeforce:
Daniel Broadbent 1 appearance, 0 goals (1st season professional) Andy Booth 4 appearances, 2 goals (currently injured) Phil Jevons 12 appearances, 0 goals (currently shit) Danny Cadamarteri 14 appearances, 0 goals (currently a winger) Keigan Parker 14 appearances, 1 goal (currently suspended)
I rest my case.

It's OK, don't worry. Gerry has trained up Danny Broadbent since he was a young lad, and had him over for Christmas dinner once. This means that Danny Broadbent is the answer to our striker problems, and will be on the bench/starting the next game. Brilliant. If I was a new manager coming in to what's left here, I would be in despair. Oh you want to know what strikers we have? Here look, there's Lazy, Dopey, Useless, Dead and Deader. Enjoy! Oh you don't fancy that? Well we have 2 blokes who can strike a ball well and score. Except we sent one of them on loan because we're childish and need to massage our egos. 'Micky' Collins does a great tap in though You may have noticed, i'm not happy.
