One reason is the lack of strikers available. Dreamboy posted that Donny have missed out on five this week who went to other Championship clubs.

stan was quoted that he had a replacement for dickinson lined up. a meeting took place on football matters and stan left the club. read into that how you want but this club looks more like its run by the acadamy has each day goes bye. looks like danny broadbent at least until jan.

Because Murphy wouldn't have a clue who to sign, I doubt he has much knowledge of any players over 16 and outside West Yorkshire.

I actually thought after 20 years in the professional game Murphy had decent contacts and I guess knows a face at most clubs - even if they're only a coach. Take a look at the folk who turned up for free at various GM's testimonial do's and then tell me he knows no one in football!
As for contacts, we really saw the fruits of Ternents relationship with Alex Ferguson!
For all the talk ST seemingly only knew a few people at Blackpool, Burnley, Sunthorpe and Accrington ... hardly "extensive" IMO
AR seemingly had even less contacts still!

Stan had a striker and goal keeper lined up and ready for January...irrelevant now, as the loan window is shut, and ST is no longer in charge. Looks like our best wide player will be up front until someone comes in

Unfortunately I did not get told that, but the source was as good as they get. But due to Stan going it is now irrelevant. My general point was that was it wise to get rid of a manager, without having any kind of plan in place re getting new players in?

Ternent also wanted to spend £400k on Clive Platt in the summer Platt's a 31 year old journeyman striker with an average scoring record at clubs like Rochdale and Walsall. If that was the calibre of signing in the pipeline I don't think we're missing out too much

Whether we are well rid or not is up for debate to be honest. yes we are playing better football, and yes we beat leeds, but we hammered Leyton Orient, but never came close to scoring! At this moment in time I'd take Clive Platt up front rather than Roberts and Jevons as it was Tuesday. Plus to be fair to ST, some of his signings were half decent (nobody criticised him for signing Unsworth and Lucketti at the time)

We did sign a striker and then didn't play him. When we finally did he played very well, but in that short time has managed to pick up 2 red cards and is off the scene again as a result.
