I thought that football was supposed to be ''kicking out racism''?? They guy, after being found guilty, should have received a banning order imho!!!! What kind of message does this send out There is a separate hearing for the banning order though. It mentions it at the very end of the article. |

Everyone I know cracks racist jokes. I bet 99% of people on here crack racist jokes but then get all high and mighty if someone else does. Most of us sing 'We All Hate l**ds Scum' and that is racist against Neanderthals |

I suspect most people don't know what a 'Yid' is, but I reckon some Town fans simply think it is a shortened version of 'Leeds'.!

Tis true Sir, apoint well made, however, when PC Abraham Efran Jeremiah Abel arrests Johnny Wigglesworth for screaming "You dirty fucking Yid bastards" at the Leeds fans will we all come down on him and condemn him or will we say its a travesty and over zealous policing?
I dont think there are any of us here who can pass judgment.

I can. Racism is completely unacceptable. That's my judgement.
It was very easy to pass as well. Anyone else?, or am I the only person who thinks we need to stamp out all forms of racism - especially so casual 'I'm just having a laugh' nonsense.

Totally agree with you there ctt, there's no room/excuse for racism at all. Although you still get people trying to qualify jokey racism by saying "it's alright, i've got friends from different backgrounds etc". No need and no point in it...

If I hear someone shouting racist abuse, I will do the sensible thing and quietly report it to a steward, and not make a big fuss of it.
I know what a bunch of knuckle-dragging bash-your-head-in-then-talk-later types these racists are.

Well in all my years i have NEVER heard of a Town fan being arrested for using the term Yid, which, as you well know be interpreted as a racist insult dependant on the context it is used in. I expect to hear of that statistic changing come February and the same condemnation on those individuals.
You seem to be interpreting my stance as condoning the Swindon fans action. Not the case at all, but i wont pillory him because im guilty of having referred to Leeds fans as Yids in the past.
There was an Englishman, Irishman and Scotsman.........
