He'll get us winning and looking like a team ready for promotion, then the moment a prem/top championship team comes along and say "oh Sam we forgot how good you were here's more money for you and more money for players and the huge backroom staff you want" then Town are left right back here again with boothroyd gone and adkins not wanting to be second best. I think we need someone who sees himself as a very capable manager at this level and wants to take a team he's created upwards. p.s not my 1st choice but if calderwood does go this wkd does he come into the frame?

Yeah but by the time another club came calling, we'd be in the championship which is where we want to be of course. Getting up there is the hard bit, once we're up there we'll be able to attract higher calibre players (eg Barnsley - Hume, Macken etc) and of course managers.
Not gonna happen though so pointless talking about it.

This seems to be a similar scenario to that of martin allen....in hindsight (a wonderful thing), I wish we'd have snapped his hand off

And just think of the compensation if a bigger club did come in while he was still under contract ;D

If we hire him, he takes us up, then buggers off for a massive payoff and we're in the Championship, i'd happily take over 3 years of Adkins trying, getting us up, then bringing us back down.

Let's think about now. At the moment, we haven't been able to get up to the top of this division, so let's not worry about what might happen if the new appointment's successful .. I know what you're saying, in that some managers will jump at the opportunity of managing at a higher level, ASAP, and others won't ... but I think the biggest of our worries is getting up there in the first place!

If he came in won 10 games and left it'd be better than nothing, it'd stupid reason not to apoint him

Whoever gets the job is going to walk if one of the big guns comes calling, thats football. We might as well buy a striker who doesn't score, just in case he ends up leaving for the prem. Get the best man for the job, then worry about keeping him.

If someone comes in and wants him, it means he's doing a good job, and it would bump us up with regards to bringing in a new manager for long term.
