Never trust stats. Government uses them all the time to try and convince us that black is white. The onlly stats that matter are the ones that show we haven't been able to get out of the third division with John Worthington and a number of other players who have been in the team all the time we have been trying.

So by that reasoning, Chelsea should ditch Lampard and Terry cos after years of trying they still haven't won the CL ? Arsenal should look to get rid of Fabrigas cos they can't win anything and still no title at Liverpool so bye bye Stevie G and Carra. Those stats PROVE we are far better off with Worthy in the team than without him. Its not opinion- its FACT. All these debates about what some of us think about him ARE opinion and we'll all have our own, but the stats are FACT and tell a clear story.
Of course fact or not, we haven't gone up with him and the others you mention ,your right ( though the argument we ' never could ' with players like Worthington or Clarke is plainly bollacks), but as its patently clear we are better with him in the team, it would seem strange to think wed be more likely to succeed by getting rid of our vital player first. We don't 'owe' JW a place in the team or a living, but theres plenty of players at the club who should be replaced before him, as all the stats show.

Talent/skillwise Worthy is probably one of the least talented players in the squad(certainly as far as shooting goes ) But he has more energy in the middle of the park than anyone else we have and does more closing down and tracking back than our other midfielders and there was no competition for his place until Goodwin was signed. All our other midfielders have other attributes particularly going forward but very few of them had the inclination or energy to do the thankless stuff and help out our defence. And Collins can win as many chuffing bleep tests or whatever but he still won't have the same 'motor' as Worthy in the middle of the pitch. But I'd still just pick Goodwin on current form

A buch of stats will not convince me that he is a player. Care to pull up the same stats for the rest of our midfield please? I bet they could make Malv look like a world beater. The fact of the matter is that specialun has posted similar stats every year for the past 3 or 4 years regarding Worthy. They have been even more exaggerated than that in the past in his favour. he makes a massive difference to our results. You may be able toa make a case for someone over a season but I doubt you can do the same over a few years in the same way as Worthy. I'd still have picked Goodwin as well though! He's in his best form of his Town career so far.
