Beckford is the big difference for those nasty folk down the road. Loath him or hate him the kid gives them a real cutting egde at this level. Lets hope he is off in January at a greatly reduced rate due to carrying an injury. Worth a cheeky bid maybe ? He's a shocking footballer but does have a knack of sticking the ball in the net. He isn't good enough for the premiership and it's questionable if he's championship quality, as all the scouts who've watched him seem to realise.

What's your thoughts on yesterday. The Leeds lads in my office were fuming to say the least! Well, where to start? Let's face it, everything was set up for an upset, the conditions and the pitch didn't help but I'm not going to make excuses, the players have to take a long hard look at themselves because they were beaten by a set of players who wanted it more, something that has been happening all too often lately. So, why is that? McAllister seems unable to motivate his players, the tactics and team selections are often baffling, the players body language suggests that they are not happy with what they are being asked to do and there is an alarming lack of confidence in the defence, Staunton's department. But, all that said, we were a bit unlucky to lose, the width of a post and a goal line clearence away from going through, and let's remember that although they are a part time village team, they are a bloody good part time village team that are top of the conference, and a league 1 team losing a cup tie to a conference team really isn't that much of a shock is it? Yes it's embarrassing but we must take the jibes on the chin and at least now we can focus on the league without any cup distractions. How was the Manc derby mate? City were poor weren't they? Great post 'Ull - I could have mistaken you for a Town fan with some of them comments...

Granted he is not Prem class but from what I've seen I think he'd score regular in the Championship no probs. Is it not your asking price that has been keeping the vultures at bay? Take him and Delph out and you are very ordinary even for league one.

Is it me or is this beginning to drag on too long and become farcical? I accept that the way the previous manager left was unexpected and may have put the club on the back foot, but we should be in a position now to know who's interested and matches our ambitions to make the appointment. Having looked at some of the names mentioned on here I'm not really inspired (Allardyce and Boothroyd apart). Strong talk about Adkins, yes he led Brian Laws team to promotion, but they then dropped like a stone last season and although they've started strongly this season I'm still to be convinced they'll be there at the business end of the season. Lee Clark is even more baffling. Norwich are hardly pulling any trees up, why? can someone tell me why?? It seems to be the likes of Allardyce and Boothroyd are achievable if we make them feel really wanted. I know Dean wants a manager who would crawl over broken glass to manage but sometimes those who get jobs in football don't apply, they are approached. Let's sort it out this week! Gerry Murphy is as good a manager as anyone else we are likley to get

To get back to the original post that started this thread,I agree,if Mr.Hoyle doesn,t know by now who he wants out of the people who HAVE applied{[remember we are not privy to that list]so much for keeping the fans in touch then}the longer it goes on I,m sure we will finish up with the Wrong man again..Incidentally what is the different way of choosing he is on about??Lists and interviews seem orthodox,in the least,to me.Perhaps he,s gonna give em all a number after the interviews, and then select the one that comes up as the 6th number on this weeks lottery!

I think he was probably hinting at the psychometric profiling that has taken place.
De rigeur for a regular workplace appointment of such significance (in terms of the salary the position attracts and the influence that the position has over the whole business), but I'm guessing football manager jobs typically are given pretty much on a nod and a whim.

I think Becchio is not bad (more lightweight than anyone in this division but he is decent) and Snodgrass is decent (not just cos he scored vs Town). He is no Gary Roberts though!

Another lady friend owns a flat in the same block as BecKford. He says he was expecting to be sold when l**ds didn't get promoted last season.

{[remember we are not privy to that list]so much for keeping the fans in touch then} why should he make the list known publicly?maybe if hes made contact with people that are already in jobs and they've allowed that person to be interviewed for the job, they may have said 'ok you can talk to him,but we dont give permission for you to name him publicly unless you appoint him as manager' plus when was the last time a team actually published their list of candidates?hardly ever i'd imagine
