Is it me or is this beginning to drag on too long and become farcical? I accept that the way the previous manager left was unexpected and may have put the club on the back foot, but we should be in a position now to know who's interested and matches our ambitions to make the appointment.
Having looked at some of the names mentioned on here I'm not really inspired (Allardyce and Boothroyd apart). Strong talk about Adkins, yes he led Brian Laws team to promotion, but they then dropped like a stone last season and although they've started strongly this season I'm still to be convinced they'll be there at the business end of the season.
Lee Clark is even more baffling. Norwich are hardly pulling any trees up, why? can someone tell me why??
It seems to be the likes of Allardyce and Boothroyd are achievable if we make them feel really wanted. I know Dean wants a manager who would crawl over broken glass to manage but sometimes those who get jobs in football don't apply, they are approached.
Let's sort it out this week!

It only seems farcical because you're on a football forum, where everyone posts all kinds of rumours and other completely made up crap.
If you weren't on the forum, you wouldn't think it was farcical, because you wouldn't have had to sift through all the tosh people post about what is happening at the club.
Dean is looking for his man, and when he finds him he'll appoint him. Don't believe everything you read.

Who is Bobbins? Is he young? Is he ambitious?
Your spot on though fella it is dragging isn't it. I dont buy this right man right time malarkey - something is up in my eyes. It makes me wonder exactly by whom & how any decision will be made at all???

Quite the contrary I'm not believing peoples "credible sources" etc. My main point is the process is taking too long and should be now resolved. As far as I'm concerned we're a rudderless ship going nowhere.

the reason this 'drags on' is because this crap that we post is available 24/7.
Under the old rules, this would be discussed at set times during the week. Work Pub (before & after games) Home - if you have multiple Town fans living there...
Unfortunately t'internet gives us too many opportunities to spout crap and has the detrimental effect of dragging into the discussions a wider circle of 'friends' who you have never met, are never likely to meet and if some of the more inane crap I've read on here recently is to be believed, will be thankful of that missed 'opportunity'.

Are you saying that four weeks isn't dragging?? In terms of Football it's an eternity.

And to be fair, Dean Hoyle DID say that it could be 2, 3 or 4 MONTHS before an announcement would be made.

Sure the tinterweb exacerbates things but four weeks is still a month isn't it??? To be fair from the outset we were told that we would take our time to make the right decision. I just fear that the reason for taking our time may be for "other" reasons than the very noble one presented to us.

would be nice if someone from the club would give some info into how things are going or is the silence from within the club a signal we are still no where near appointing someone

Not really bothered what Carlisle and Swindon do to be honest. The problem for me is that when we got rid of the Ternant a lot of people jumped on the "let's write this season off" bandwagon which given we were in October wass absolutely crazy! I'm sorry but the Football community is a small one, taking 2, 3 and 4 months is indecisiveness of the worse kind IMO. I think we are now at the point where this season is going to be a waste unless we get someone in now, who grabs us by the scruff of the necks and drags up kicking and screaming into the play offs.

Lets give Dean a chance. He said it could take a while as he was going to try a whole new approach. He has done nothing but good for the club so far, lets not write him off just yet.

Would you argue that we should see where we sit come xmas? If GM is still pulling this along nicely, why fix something that ain't broken.
Don't know about other posters on here, but i've had experience of several different types of manager in my job and have to say that it makes a big difference in your output. If the GM/GM partnership really is getting that level of commitment from (the majority of) the players, then why change it.
The only thing I'd add is that at some point Gerry M might think Dean H is taking the liberty of exploiting the mans goodwill.

I dont want either GM as gaffer and the length of time taken thus far would suggest we are looking elsewhere. As a matter of fact if either of these two were given the job now it would be laughable.
If the club thought that they were the ones they should have had them signed up already and everyone could have moved on accordingly.

As GM1 has said he doesn't want it, and GM2 has said he is flattered but doesn't feel he is ready for it. I think it is safe to say that neither will get it.

Wasn't suggesting GM to be manager, just suggesting that its often a managerial ploy to keep an interim appointment going for much longer than normal if they're delivering the goods.
Your interim appointment is generally on less money, doesn't come with the contractual constraints of a fixed term appointment, so its a bit of a winner all round if things are going well.
In summary it's a bit of a win-win for Dean H and Gerry M, but at some point this favour may be tested.

We def need a new man in quickly, things arent going all the smoothly under the GM's if all blinkers are removed. We've beat Leeds and brighton, but we have got beat off a poor Port Vale side, and a poor Orient side.

We're not exactly a rudderless ship are we? Gerry Murphy has said that he will do the job as long as is required, and he's proved himself competent at doing just that. Ok, so this spell isn't proving as succesful as when he took the reigns last season, but you can see the players are in a better frame of mind, and the football is better since Ternent left.
Dean Hoyle has implied that his aspirations for promotion this season may have been too ambitious, so maybe he has a long term game plan, and if he has, then why should he appoint someone just cos a few town fans want a new manager?
When Wise left Leeds last year, the fans got their way with McAllister, and now a good few of them are wanting him to be replaced. You could see from the look on his face yesterday that he knows unless things change soon - his days as Leeds manager are numbered.
Lets all be honest - if we made the play offs, but didn't gain promotion, it wouldn't be a bad resolution to the season, considering the way we started.
Personally, the 'we want to know who the new manger' threads are getting tiresome.
We have a manager - Gerry Murphy, and that's how it'll be until the man paying the wages decides anything different.

Don't be hasty, if you wait a couple more weeks you can have a bald, clueless Scotsman with an Irish doylem as assistant.

Don't be hasty, if you wait a couple more weeks you can have a bald, clueless Scotsman with an Irish doylem as assistant. What's your thoughts on yesterday. The Leeds lads in my office were fuming to say the least! Well, where to start? Let's face it, everything was set up for an upset, the conditions and the pitch didn't help but I'm not going to make excuses, the players have to take a long hard look at themselves because they were beaten by a set of players who wanted it more, something that has been happening all too often lately. So, why is that? McAllister seems unable to motivate his players, the tactics and team selections are often baffling, the players body language suggests that they are not happy with what they are being asked to do and there is an alarming lack of confidence in the defence, Staunton's department. But, all that said, we were a bit unlucky to lose, the width of a post and a goal line clearence away from going through, and let's remember that although they are a part time village team, they are a bloody good part time village team that are top of the conference, and a league 1 team losing a cup tie to a conference team really isn't that much of a shock is it? Yes it's embarrassing but we must take the jibes on the chin and at least now we can focus on the league without any cup distractions. How was the Manc derby mate? City were poor weren't they?

Beckford is the big difference for those nasty folk down the road. Loath him or hate him the kid gives them a real cutting egde at this level. Lets hope he is off in January at a greatly reduced rate due to carrying an injury. Worth a cheeky bid maybe ?
