When out for a few drinks in Edinburgh on Saturday night, we bumped into the Newcastle squad on their Christmas night out. Myself and my brother (another Town fan) went and spoke with Stevie Harper. Firstly, he said how much he enjoyed his time at Town. Secondly he chatted about how his 'best mate' Lee Clark was in a strong position to become the new manager. Harper is now 33, and mentioned that in a year or two he may be interested in coming back to Town. Now that Lee Clark is manager, good chance this could happen at some point. Goalies go on older than your average player, so would love to see him back as a player and who knows maybe at some point part of Lee Clark's coaching staff.

Are you kidding? He's obviously just seeing out his best years at the club he supports before moving. He'll still be quality in a few years and Championship class.

Agree - think he would be an excellent signing. Said he had fond memories of the club. As Matt says, after getting a fair few games last year, he is probably hopeful of another crack with his local club, but dont be surprised to see him at Town at some point. Excellent keeper and would be great for guys like Smithies.

IMO would have been in the England squad had he moved to another side and played week in week out. Far and away the best goalkeeper we have had in the last twenty years

Far and away the best goalkeeper we have had in the last twenty years Nico was pretty good too, don't forget. BTW, from your handle, I'm wondering if you're in your early fifties and went to Hecky Grammar. If so, we played on the same footie and cricket teams, and I met your brother two seasons ago at Northampton. If not forget about it ....

Thought you might be Tim Rann, who may or may not be on here.
Sorry.
