I remember years ago reading that Ken Monkou would spill the beans on the reasons he left Town (assuming he fell out with Bruce) but I never heard anything.
Can anyone shed any light on the reasons?
PS one of the 'best' players skill wise I've ever seen in a Town shirt IMO

I wouldn't call him skillful but I wouldn't half mind having him back here to sort our defence out.
I think he left because he was bumming everyone.

I enjoyed our fans response when he was "paraded" at half time in the first visit to Stamford Bridge: "What a waste of money".....dead on He might have been good at Chelsea & Southampton but I distinctly remember "the Goat" doing him with ease for Man City - and even Paul Dalglish outran him when we played Norwich - not good. Can't remember why he left & don't really care I'd have Nathan Clark before him anyday!

So typical...we get a manager called Clark **There is no E at the end** and people stick the E on the end, and then all of a sudden people are omitting the E from one of our players called Clarke **note that there IS an E at the end**

You must surely be defiantly delighted ??
Butt ..... if he was bumming everyone, then why would he leave ?? Wouldn't he leave if he wasn't getting to bum everyone. Aaaaah, life's mysteries.

I heard same...
Ken Monkou, up a tree, kissing his wing man Ben Thornley.
It certainly made me chuckle at the time.

I think the real reason is somewhat duller. He was travelling up from Southampton for training and had a deal with Bruce whereby he only trained 3 days a week and then turned up on matchdays. Eventually he got fed up with the travel and his heart wasn't in it.
Great defender even if he had a bad attitude. Can't believe some people think Clarke is even fit to tie his bootlaces!

Is there something about Dutch footballers? there were always persistent rumours about Marc Overmars, we had Ken Mounkou and then there seemed to be stories about Clyde as well... Just to set the record straight as long as they are quality players I'm not too fussed about what their sexual orientation might be. Down here in Forest country it came out with Justin Fashanu years ago and ended tragically.

Monkou was the first defender that looked to head the ball to another Town player, rather than just straight back to where it came from... the opposition.

On a serious note I thought it was because Bruce arranged a reserve match against Burnley to see if Monkou would be fit enough for a game on the saturday and Monkou didn't turn up for it so they fell out?.

Thats the official story, they`re hardly likely to come out with"We caught Ken trying to bum Ben Thornley in the showers(alledgedly)" are they?
