Star in the making!! Great clean sheet, so much confidence for an 18 year old, came to collect crosses, good kicking against the wind, brilliant saves (from what i heard on the radio anyway ;D)

Who would have thought it after that fateful day at Elland Road last year. Great to see him living up to his promise and well played Gerry for giving him his chance.

Always had faith in Smit and always will. He's always looked a decent, reliable keeper in the making unlike Eastwood who's a decent shot stopper but his game is riddled with errors. Hopefully he can work on that and challenge Smit in a few years

He played extremely well. The penalty save was the least of it. The penalty was so poor that the bloke behind me said it wouldn't have reached the goal. There were at least two excellent saves and I don't think he really made a wrong move, some awkward kicking out under pressure. At the end the other players pushed him forward and he got the ovation he deserved. At times today we made Southen look poor and if we had someone who could really finish I would be confident of us going up without the playoffs. p.s. To all the fans who went, you made it a brilliant atmosphere -thanks very much I really enjoyed today ;D

It's always a great atmosphere at Southend and I for one will be very sorry when they move to their new ground. Excellent game and some of the passing movements in the first half were very impressive. One move in particular got the Olés going and there must have been at least 20 passes in it. Middle of defence looked untroubled for much of the game and midfield more or less dominated throughout I thought. Think Murphy might have taken Cadders off with 20 mins to go because he looked knacked, but who cares since we won to crown a brilliant day out. The ref did his best to spoil the game in the second half and it seemed as though every minute there was some doubtful decision given against us.
Well done terriers both on and off the pitch.

I thought Alex's tip over the bar from their free kick on the edge of the box, just after the penalty saved, was incredible. Like someone's said it was poor penalty rolled straight to him in fact but the save from the free kick was absolutely stunning!
Alex was under pressure in the first half due to the gusty wind in his face but did very well. Typically it subsided in the second for their keeper who didn't have the same problem. On the whole a solid and sometimes stunning performance from a really promising keeper. He seems to grow in confidence every week. Long may it continue!
