I think today could well turn out to be. Clark will now have seen where we have been going wrong, where we need to strengthen and which formation suits us.
Keep the faith people.

I agree it possibly could be a blessing in disguise. We have rode our luck of late, and this talk of only needing a striker in Jan was a bit naive. Hopefully Clark will have recognised our several weaknesses.

Just logged on to the site with the intention of saying the same thing when I saw your post. He'll learn a hell of a lot from today and it might serve as a reality check to us all. We are not nearly the finished article and we do need QUALITY additions. Every cloud... as they say!

Not to say I don't want to see additions but I think our current squad is good enough to make the top six in this league. Today was simply not our day and we got beat by the better team on the day.

My view is that in order to be a promotion contending side, we need Championship quality players. Out of our regular players, which ones could play in a good championship side. I wasn't there today but based on previous performances I'd say.
Smithies. Holdsworth. Goodwin (maybe). Roberts.

I have my doubts whether the current squad is good enough for the 6. We are certainly a long way off being anything like a championship club. This season for me is yet again one for building for a push next term.

If they could play in the Championship they would not be with us. Lets worry about Championship class players when we get there. In the meantime players good enough to drag us out of this division will have to suffice.

Thrice, I didn't go today and so it very hard to comment, but you have to be honest and say we are very short on QUALITY in the final third and we are especially lacking any major presence in the box! You may be right, the squad MIGHT just make the top six, but as it stands they don't really put the fear of God into teams. I'll be right behind each and every one of them, whoever he picks, but I don't think it disloyal or unsupportive to say there should be additions and, consequently... there will be casualties.

Absolutly agree mate. I just think that every team in the third division has serious deficiencies and our squad is better than most (certainly top six standard for me). Should Boothy get back to fitness soon that major presence in the box will be filled in my eyes. I want additions to the team/squad as much as the next man and I look forward to seeing who the new regime bring in. I cannot agree with all this build for next year stuff though. Next year never comes. There is loads of footy to be played this year yet and we are in a good position to kick on in the second half of the season.

Can't imagine Clark was fooled by the Hereford performance. For all the fine passing, especially in the first half, there was some rank defending - notably from Butler and Williams.

Definitely not ready for Championship, Williams looks poor at this level and he is not the only one that couldn't play at a higher level.
Smithies, Roberts, Holdsworth, maybe Nathan Clarke andmaybe Jim Goodwin could play Championship but would all need some decent players around them.
