make a sustained play off push? Obv a striker is our main priority, but when we put a big lad up there (which is what we need) we rush to get the ball forward and become uneffective. IMO we need another 41-44 points to get in the Play offs so thats 12 wins 5 draws min.

IMO No. We would need 3 or 4 better players than we currently have in January to do so.

Yes - we are in touch without a prolific striker! We seemed to have that all important momentum and goals like Roberts will only help increase that.
Get 2/3 cracking signings in Jan to compliment and improve the squad and we've got a very good shout .

Can you imagine if we get a prolific striker, the opposition won't know who to mark. Can't wait!

I thought Scunthorpe looked the best side we'd seen at halftime so if we can beat them then we have a chance. It's still too early to say IMO tho as we've no idea what Clark is like as a manager yet or who we may or may not sign in the January transfer window.

we've no idea what Clark is like as a manager yet Watching Clark in and out of the technical area, I have not seen as much passion in a Town manager since Warnock !!

We are well in the playoff mix IF we get a goalscorer in to complement the rest of the team.
It will be tight though, Leeds will push on from here and will be up there come the end of the season.

Of course we can. It will take a massive effort, but it's 100% possible, and with it being our centenery, maybe magic will be in the air................

We desperately need a strong presence up front to have any chance of the play offs. Today, in a hard fought match when the ball spent most of the time in the air, we simply could not hold the ball up front. And I don't think hitting high balls to Danny C is a long term option.
For us to challenge I we desperately need more presence up front - particularly in games like these when its a battle rather than a flowing football match.

Commented to my other half on the way out of the ground that being in the play offs with Leeds is looking quite plausible. What a day out that would be.

If we can get a decent target man than the answer is yes and don't forget the legend is back next month sometime which will give us more options. We are in the mix of 10 that is forming it's own mini league in the top half of the table.
A run of say 8 victories in the next 10 games would certainly see us in a very good play-off slot.
I have a feeling that we will be there or there about at the end of the season, but if we do miss out I will not be that dissapointed as Lee Clark and his team will get us playing some very good football with time. If it's not this season, I'm already excited about 2009/10 season.

Yes we can make the play offs if we bring in the right players in january at least one goal scoring striker and and another natural winger.
We are probablt a top half/ top ten side at the moment but to kick on and make the top six we desperately need a quality striker.
In my opinion Leceister, Peterbrough, MK Dons and Leeds will be in the top six plus two others and we could be one of them.

To be honest.. considering the position we are in, I wouldn't be too concerned if we didn't make the play offs this year.... I know it's the centenary year and all that, but the club is clearly in a healthier state than it has been for a good number of years. New manager, new chairman, renewed optimism among the fans The Championship is obviously a highly competitive league and I wouldn't want us to be out of our depth and finish up coming back down. I think getting Lee Clark another year under his belt, a few of his signings and getting some of his ideas across, another season in league one may be beneficial in the long run so we are better prepared for our inevitable promotion. Happy to be shot down in flames !!!!

knowing the fa and football league they'll probably be given automatic promotion as a punishment, the twats What are you on about? That for all your never ending victim status, you always get light punishments by the FA/FL. By all rights you should have been thrown out of the league last year, but even considering your minuscule punishment you never stop bleating about how harshly you were done to. Whoever said cheats never prosper should be shown Master Bates' record of the last few years.

Playoffs of course we can we just need our "Goerdie Messiah" aka Lee Clark, to know which striker he needs to buy
