In another thread, someone said that he was told Clibbens was on radio leeds yesterday and has said we have to sell before we buy. Did anyone hear/can confirm this?
Maybe dxterrier is right after all...

even if we send a couple of guys out on loan shud free up some cash or let some of the deadwood go for free if a club interested that would release some of wage budget

gettin rid of unsworth and lucketti would likely free up a chunky portion of the budget for wages

Dpn't forget beckett's gone, and pressumably we aren't covering most of flynn's wage at the moment.

Wait and see who Grayson decides isn't good enough for us, and you can have your pick of them. Agree that at this level, Leeds are a big club. However, look at our management team now, with proven international / premiership experience. This will appeal to some players as will the opportunity to play regular unlike Leeds who have a large squad already. Yes Town's is large by our normal standards but a few are definatley surplus to requirements now. We may not be able to compete on the wages front, but we can more than match Leeds for developing players etc. Huddersfield Town are a club on the up!

How can this be true?
We bid £800,000 for Stead... At least £500,000 (I'd imagine a great deal more) of this has not been spent. We had two Championship players on loan, they're hardly going to be on peanuts...
Has anyone got a link to what he said?

Smoke and mirrors perhaps??
A: Town have cash to spend and the selling club puts another 25% on the price.
B: Town are not cash rich and can haggle over the price of a player.

its been said before (by hoyle i think) that we'd reached the limit on wages but still had transfer funds available-the bid for stead if memory serves, was while we were still in the process of bringin players in,so at that time we still had some leeway in terms of wages

thats the problem, especially as ternent gave lucketti a 2 year deal I'd keep Lucketti myself, nice to have some experienced back up in the defence. You also need to consider the role he plays behind the scenes, his experience might prove useful to our other defenders, especially the younger ones.

Our squad is far too large - makes sense to get rid of some of the high earners from our books.
I would look at making available for transfer:
Lucketti, Unsworth, Williams, Skarz, Flynn, Worthy, Kamara and Jevons.
And would let Craney go if we could get anything like the £200k back we paid for him.
Obviously you couldnt let them all go but even if we managed to shift a couple it would give Lee Clark scope to shape the squad as he sees fit.

The contracts turnip handed out are going to be a problem. But with beckett gone, there must eb wages for loans available. It would be naive not to let clark bring in a striker on loan.
Imo we need a striker and another wide player at least for starters.
We could do with a left back, centre half, right back as well and lose williams, unsworth, lucketti for starters plus a central midfielder, but easier said than done!

No need to get rid of any of these Maybe Williams IF a new left back was going to be brought in, and MAYBE Worthy if a new CM was coming in, but apart from that I don't see why.

we need to sell the dead wood no doubt.im looking forward to saying goodbye to quite a few to be honest.
saying that unless we get a striker we wont make the playoffs...............................unless parker/jevons remember what they get paid to do

Why? We need a striker and a right winger - imo it will be easier to lose a flynn, williams, or worthy than it will be to lose lucketti or unsworth.
It might be a case of needs must.
I'd agree not to lose williams or skarz unless there is another coming in ideally. Personally, I wouldn't lose jevons, still think he has a big role to play and clark seems to like him.
But you cannot be seriously thinking we need a central midfielder in before we lose one?!?!?!
Even stan was happy with collins, craney, worthy, flynn, goodwin, berett, holdsworth.
We must look to lose one of the 6/7 central midfielders to increase/improve the striking and wide options and create some kind of a balanced squad where we can play round pegs in round holes. That's been the problem all along.

In Clark's Interview he stresses that everyone of his players will have a role to play this season..........

Why is there no need to get rid of any of those i mention?
Obviously i would be offloading those players with the view to signing both a left back and a striker (maybe 2 if jevons goes) as a priority
There is no point having underperforming, highly paid players, who are not even featuring in the 16 - in our squad
If we have to sell before we buy - i would rather Lee Clark be allowed to bring in as many of his men as possible to give him (and us) the best chance of promotion
No doubt if they all stay, the majority will have a role to play this season - but i would prefer those not even in the 16 to be moved on if it is hindering Lee Clark from bringing in players that we desperately need if we are to mount a serious challenge
And a striker who can score goals is a must. I would get rid of all those 4 you highliight if we are able to bring in a top quality striker in their place...
