Good call on radio leeds tonight. I know mids has mentioned it before that we aint got the technology to show replays (even carlisle can so it cant cost that much!) But we are missing a big trick with it. You definately can show replays. They do at watford and we could put jeff stelling on at half time to keep people updated with whats happening. Be good to have pre match interviews on too. Its just a complete waste of cash having it on at the moment. It offers nothing to the matchday experience. On a positive note with it, was nice to see ian greaves face on it with the years of his life for the minutes applause

THey show replays at all of the other grounds with a big screen that is capable.
I've seen replays recently at Ewood Park and Eastlands. These were goal replays and were shown immediately after the goals were scored. Highlights were shown at half time.

The Jeff Stelling/soccer saturday thing would be great, but am sure we'd need permission from sky to broadcast it on the big screen. Also, I don't think it is a waste of cash, surely it must be somewhat self-sustaining with the number of adverts that appear on there.

Sean Jarvis was interviewed for DATM ... And was asked about this ... " With regards the new scoreboard that has been installed, many fans feel that it is not achieving its full potential somewhat, such as not having replays or scores from around the country.Yeah I would agree with that. We are still learning its capabilities. There is a financial implication that affects the use of replays, and we took the decision at the beginning of the season not to take up that opportunity, but it is maybe something we will look at in the future. In terms of half time scores, as a fan I would like to see regular updates on there. I’m having a chat with David Sykes [Marketing Exec] and the media team who run the scoreboard to see how things could be done. It is not as simple as just putting the scores up, but it is still under revision and by the end of this year, a review will have been taken on a lot of things to see what has and hasn’t worked and how things can be moved forward. Linked to this is the music at the ground, and whether we should have some played when we score a goal or not. Some fans say yes, some say no, so it’s a tough decision to make. Really we have to be led by the supporters and what is happening on the pitch, and I’m of the belief that we cannot manufacture that. We cannot insist that fans sing certain songs but I think that it is you guys that lead the way. I’ve been very impressed with the Cowshed Loyal trying to build the atmosphere at games. The best pre-match I’ve witnessed is at Anfield when they play “You’ll Never Walk Alone” and I think we could replicate that here, whether it is Smile A-While or the Elvis Presley song [Can’t Help Falling In Love], and if we went on a strong run of results and were flying high then maybe that’s the time to introduce it." The rest of the interview can be read here.

I do love what Sean Jarvis says about still learning its capabilities.
I just have this image of some bloke down at the stadium stood on the pitch with a remote and an instruction booklet looking puzzled ;D

Why would you require permission to show sky on the big screen? Its being shown downstairs in the gangways on the tv's so why is it any different on the big screen?

The big screen is lets face it rubbish. I don't buy the crap about expense for replays. We've all seen the mouse pointer on it, so how hard is it to do anything worthwhile? Not very. There's just not a desire for it within the club for some reason.
It's a shame as its a great money making opportunity for the club, but I know I'm not alone in looking at the screen MUCH less than I previously did.
Waste of money, thankfully not mine.

I maybe one of few people here, but I do like the screen, although the lack of replays is somewhat annoying. It's presentable, informative and is a work in progress. It obviously needs to show replays and also show the latest scores more often, but in my opinion, it's a welcome addition to the stadium. Certainly better than the old one we had.

They can't get the telly in the upper FM stand working for more than two weeks in a row so what chance do they have with the big screen

I also remember billy whitehurst having a shot which smashed the old board! Wonder How much that was auctioned off for or was it down before we left? Cant remember now!

I remember entering Stanford Bridge early, for the 1st of the 2 recent FA Cup ties i think. I can't remember who was playing, something tells me Hull v Villa !? Probably completely wrong...but on BBC, 1.30 ko or wateva....and that was shown prior to Kick off at Chelsea. Regarding replays, why dont they like have the screen on a 5 second delay from the match ?? So when everyone looks up anticipating a replay, it does actually show what you'v just seen! Cos at the moment...it seems to be a waste of money !

To be fair the last one had been on it's last legs for years so it needed replacing. Might aswell replace it with something a bit fancier! It's nice that all we have to complain about is the scoreboard these days.

Get replays on it and it'd be well worth it.

Even Darlo managed to show highlights of previous games on their board before our JPT game.
