If points were awarded for vocal backing, oldham would have had all 3. Superb noise all afternoon. Days like today just make you realise How much we need our own end. At times there was silence. I sit in direct golf lower and it was woeful in there today. The players did their bit but i thought the support was shocking today. Well done the oldham fans. Thats How to get behind a team

Brilliant after we equalised but their goal seemed to stun the atmosphere out of the fans.

I thought the Town support came in bursts today, and when it did come it came from the singing section AND the DG lower.
Oldham fans were brilliant though.

From where i was sat (north end on the antich) I could barely hear the oldham fans. Considering that they were leading for over an hour they were pretty quiet.
The early goal (which was stunning) knocked the stuffing out of the home fans but as the second half went on we got louder and after the goal there was singing in all areas of the ground. I thought the atmosphere was really good for the last 20 mins or so.

Disagree re the atmos!! Started well but their goal knocked the stuffing out of it a bit. 2nd half was really good up until the goal funny enough then everyone seemed to get a bit nervous!! Oldham support was OK but no more considering they were ahead for an hour!!!!!

Didn't come across as that special in the Antich!! Perhaps if you had a little sing song yourselves in the DG you wouldn't hear them so much!!!!!

Oldhams was alright, nothing special though. Was only really that end block towards the Antich. Our own support was good, as said the early goal knocked the stuffing out of us a bit, but in the second half before we scored it picked up again. Tailed off towards the end but again as already mention I think that was due to nerves (was on my part anyways ;D ) Bloody drummer was banging too loud for me an all, especially in the second half, over powering the actual words & i'm guessing if you wern't sat within the singers then thats all you could hear

They were loud but that was only because they scored after 5mins and as soon as we scored i didnt hear a word from them. Thought town fans were vocal at times but was a funny atmosphere today like it always is when its a big game and big crowd. Always get people turning up who hardly ever come and they just shout random sentences out that dont make any sense and usually involve moaning about one of our players being crap and not playing like ronaldinho!

I suppose I'm going on the fact that they annoyed the hell out of me with the Great Escape. Town fans tried to out do them with the Sex Pistols song, but didn't.

I sit in the Antich stand singing section and the thing that kills the atmosphere is THE GOD DAMN STEWARDS. Ok they doing a job but as soon as a chant is started we get told to sit down and this constantly happens week after week. Leave us alone and let us enjoy ourselves...Remember if we wasnt there you wouldnt have a job.

I'm surprised to hear this as I've never though much to them.
They were very subdued at ER the last couple of times, especially considering that they beat us on both occasions.
Are you the team they hate? their "scum" if you like, that would explain it.

That sex pistols song is really starting to grate. Just after our goal was a great time to give it our full repertoire and what do we do? "I am a hudders fan..." zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz change the tune.... and dont get me started on the drummer!

The music played when we scored was still bloody annoying as well.

If points were awarded for vocal backing, oldham would have had all 3. Superb noise all afternoon. Days like today just make you realise How much we need our own end. But we do have our own end (FM Stand), it's just that the bad design of the stand prohibits a better atmosphere. God knows why that design was approved. The lower tier has never looked right and provides the worst view of the ground. How many times has it ever had to be removed for a concert ? - I'm sure less than 2-3. I would have preferred a near replica of the south stand at the north end, with maybe exec boxes at the rear. I'm sure this would have led to a better atmosphere.

Noise wise:
Sitting where I do in the Riverside Upper in the middle, I'd say Latics fans were incredible all game. Wonderful even! All credit to them.
BUT what I also noticed was every part (I mean EVERY single part) of our ground was totally behind the team after we got level, in fact it was totally brilliant, which all bodes well for the rest of our season.
One day soon we're going to hand out a massacre to some poor buggers and that day will be the day our fans really feeeeeeel their power!
AceT ;D

I must say I think your ground is a weird, disjointed affair. Yes it is strikingly original and certainly impressive by league 1 standards, but just doesn't feel right, it feels too remote and open, hard to put my finger on really. I suppose it would be better if the corners were filled in. Not having a go by the way, just a genuine observation.

Are you the team they hate? their "scum" if you like, that would explain it. Be surprised...they were nothing, this thread is total bollocks. When they're Crystal Palace, Wolves or West Brom and the noise they used to bring then we'll laud them, until then, typical crappy League 1 team bringing 65% of their home support away to their cup final.

Hull/Leeds: A fair observation IMO - I suppose that's the price the club paid (unknowingly) for being pioneeers in the art of football stadium design. My view is that the biggest single dampener of atmosphere is the lack of ability to move around (those with long memories will remember walking round the running track from the open end to the scrattin' shed at half time) add that to the ridiculous "no standing" edict & the resulting lack of "buzz" is a foregone conclusion... I sometimes look around & think the folk around me could easily be watching Coronation Street for all the excitement coming from the crowd. Good game today - fair result - promising & with Boothy (or similar) we'll stroll this league..
