Thanks, I will use it always. Your undoubted wit is lost on many of those that frequent this place, fella. Unfortunately standards have plummeted since Rivals shit their pot and fooked everything up. For what it's worth, I thought your posts were amusing. Try the AWAG forum on this site for humour - it all seems to be petty abuse here.

However, there's a whole different vibe these days and, unfortunately, it's not for the better. DATM now appears to be populated, in the main, by the aggressive, the abusive, the illiterate and the just plain intellectually challenged. Where's the wit and humour gone? Where's the inter-club banter gone? Where's the ability to construct a literate passage of text gone? Like many other Rivals 'regulars', I mainly just browse these days because the repetitive abuse is boring and I really can't be arsed anymore.

Now, either stuoafc is a genius, having read jello's post... Or he's an illeterate, intellectually challenged, abusive idiot.
Place your bets now!
(Couldn't agree more jello, by the way - the quality of post has fallen dramatically; I used to come on DATM for a reasoned and interesting debate - now I think twice before clicking on the link for fear of how annoyed the posts may make me. Still can't stop myself though!)

Like many other Rivals 'regulars', I mainly just browse these days because the repetitive abuse is boring and I really can't be arsed anymore. Hand on heart yes I completely disagree. I may be biased having set up and having a large part in the running of the site of course but I go way back to the early days of rivals as well and struggle to remember this idyllic place of witty banter and mesmeric prose between posters. What I do remember was the same cliques just in smaller numbers. This site obviously has far more users than the old site which in turn is going to mean there will be more idiots on it. Anyone who has abused anyone else is dealt with the administrators on here. The inter club thing is obviously hard to replicate but we've certainly tried our best and actively encourage posters from other clubs to come on here(unlike 95% of other football fan forums!). I agree the "vibe" may be different to rivals and may not be to everyones liking. However personally I think the site got the shake up it needed. I certainly didnt post in the last year or so of rivals as it was IMO a dreadful bland message board(no offense intended Geoff). The recent dialogue we've had with the club on here(mainly via SJ) is a real positive leap forward and hopefully something we can expand upon in the future. We've got some great posters on here and I'm proud to be part of the "new"(over a year old) DATM site.....

Good reply, you have defended your corner admirably and I fully accept that the overhaul has lead to some aspects improving on the original. Perhaps you're right about my 'rose-tinted' memories after all. Unfortunately though, the sheer weight of dullards and children that now post (not necessarily the same people, but often are IMO) merely add to the repetitiveness of thread content and volume of badly constructed, illiterate dross that you have to wade through to get to the interesting bits. No doubt I'll continue to browse a lot and post a little (like a number of others), as I do genuinely appreciate your efforts to continue to provide such a service. Maybe it's my age - hell, I even agreed with Slapps last week... Just the once, mind...

Occasionally browse, but the vibe is completely different. The particular thing I don't like is the 167 moderators constantly exercising control freakery over the slightest deviance from perceived etiquette. No offence fella, not disresepecting the work you do, just calling it the way I see it. I never thought I'd miss Geoff, but I appreciate, now, the way he stayed in the background unless absolutely necessary. edit for spelling

But by not wanting the 'interfereing' moderators your shooting yourself in the foot! It is the moderators who remove the threads which often contribute to the lowering of the standard!

People seem to love to think that administrators are constantly deleting threads, handing out bans and feeding those who swear to the tigers ... but it's simply not true! Rarely do admins have to take action, but when they do, it's to prevent abuse or ridiculous amounts of multiple threads on the same subject. (Anyone remember the 20 odd Rob Page threads? )

Perhaps the novelty has worn off
