Sorry, just that hes been pulled up on his terrible red card record before by people who weren't joking!
Don't know anything about Jennings but if I was Clark id be looking to ditch Flynn and replace him way before I did the same with Worthy. Goodwins in the team on merit at the moment and even though Im a big Worthy fan, I don't have an issue with that at all. But similarly Goodwin playing well currently isn't a bad reflection of Worthy, who Clark will hardly have seen play so far. Id have thought he isn't even on the bench at the moment because Berrett offers a wider choice of options should an injury happen somewhere, but if Goodwin gets injured or sent off next match, JW would ( or at least should) leapfrog the bench to take his role in the side.

In my opinion if goddwin gets injured suspended or has a dip in form i would want worthy to come in and replace him rather than berrett or tom clark. I agree we are too heavy in central midfielders but it would be flynn for the exit door for me. When Goodwin was suspended, Gerry used Craney to replace him, not Worthington. Gerry also went on record as saying that Worthy is an attacking midfielder. When he was nowt but a lad, I used to watch Worthy playing for the youth/academy team and he scored hatfuls of goals; Gerry was in charge of that team. Worthy has mostly been used as a defensive midfield player and seems to have forgotten how to put the ball in the back of the net as a result. It's not his best position though. Berrett definitely is a defensive midfielder and he can pass the ball too, which is essential for the pivotal midfield role that Goodwin is currently playing.

Lee Clark was talking Flynn up in the Examiner so I don't get the impression he is going to be leaving. Worthington can't get near the squad, which suggests to me that he is surplus to requirements in the manager's eyes. The club have said we need to move players out to get new ones in, so I should imagine that Worthington will be on his way.

Slaps, not for the first time you are getting confused.
The vast majority of Worthy detractors on here are critical of Worthys discipline, this does not mean his red card record.
Discipline is much more than red and yellow cards, it is also being left on your arse following diving in leaving the opposition midfielder running at our back 4. A situation which gladly has been addressed and we now have someone streets ahead in terms of ability and football nous.
For that reason Berrett and Clarke are better options should Goodwin be unavailable or lose form - in addition they are both considerably younger than Worthy. I would fully expect Clark to have seen that already and his selections suggest that to be the case.
If we want to move up leagues and play more attractive football Worthy cannot be involved to an extensive level, that is a harsh fact of football.
As a great servant to our great club I wish him every success when the inevitable happens.

I think that if Worthy wants regular 1st team football - and what professional footballer wouldn't? (apart from possibly Steve Harper ) - then he'll have to move on. Goodwin's tackling ability and range of passing is far superior to Worthy's and Ian Craney is far more versatile. Worthy, & Flynn, are mere squad players at the moment and I can't see either being happy with that.

Goodwins a better user of the ball than JW but I don't see him as being a better tackler at all. Also, before these last 3 or 4 games, Goodwin had a much worse bookings to minutes on the pitch ratio than Worthington this season, yet I don't recall anyone critisising him for this, easier to still go back to this lazy notion that worthy gets booked every game and flies into reckless challenges constantly. I suppose if they're wanting to recoup some transfer fee from a player not currently being used then JW is the likely (only) choice as Flynn would only be a free.

Worthy or no Worthy our midfield looks alot stronger this season than last, though i'd hope it would considoring the numbers Stan brought in! I too am a Worthy fan, and i'd have him in the team alongside Goodwin in central midfield, perhaps at the expense of a little creativity, although we now have that in abundance going down both flanks.
