Seeing his name mentioned in another thread re-ignited a query I have always held. The first season he came he scored over 30 goals in (for us and Crewe) and was the perfect foil as a small pacey striker amongst Ronnie and the Legend. We turned him into a left back and he ended with a total of 15 goals in 139 games. Anyone know why? Was it Ray Wilson's idea? He was great for us but does anyone think we missed a trick by converting him? Suppose we did a similar thing with Chris Billy. We turned our left back Craig Armstrong into a solid midfielder, played Mirfin as a striker, Berrett as a sweeper, pretended Alex Dyer was a footballer and turned Jon Newby into a crock of shite. Who next will be reborn? Personally I would like to see Unsworth retrained to sell programmes. UTT.

Edwards played on the right wing for both us and Crewe that season. I think that goalscoring season was just one of those purple patch one offs and as his threat deteriorated from the wing he was moved further back where he did a good solid job. On the next one to be reborn... I heard Jim Goodwin can play right back
