"Which Huddersfield players do you think will cause Northampton problems? h8wk_cobbler - 'Matty Collins looks a decent player and Gary Roberts seems to be on the lips of most Huddersfield fans ' NTFC_Nut - 'Andy Booth, Unsworth and Lucketti at the back and Worthington (imo one of the best central midfielders in League One, lynchpin of their midfield.' NTownJordy - 'Roberts, think they bought him from Ipswich'" There are so many things wrong with NTFC_Nut's prediction that I don't even know where to start... Who's Matty Collins too??

Hopefully NTFC_Nut is their chief scout.
Mind you, in a round about way, he's saying that NONE of our players will cause them problems?

He has obviously looked at who are main players have been in the last decade.
Probably means Boothy in 1994, Lucketti in 1998 and Worthy in 2002. And he means Unsworth at Everton in 1998.
I'd say the ones they should worry about are Roberts, Cadamarteri (if fit/playing) and I'd agree Collins... not always deeply involved but can get a goal out of the blue so yes I'd agree that they should watch him.

i read that on monday they put pitch covers on..........however,alot of clubs had pitch covers and other bits n pieces to try n get games on over the weekend n tuesday night but the pitches were still frozen-id imagine theyre doing everything they can,but even pitch covers dont guarantee the pitch wont end up frozen-id imagine if need be they'll have a pitch inspection tomorrow, before town travel

Are these pitch covers bits of roofing that have fallen down? HA!! ;D Just what I was thinking. It's not the frozen pitch we should be worried about, it's the low-flying main stand!!

that can easily change though, and from what i can gather its meant to be down to about -4 for the next 2 nights........personally i reckon they'll have a pitch inspection,im not 100% certain that it'll be on

Bang some moulded boots on - Job done. Folk used to play on pitches made from plastic FFS, nowt wrong with a little hard ground. Football has gone soft

Football has gone soft dont see it going down well though if someone goes up for a challenge n falls to the ground, smashes their head on the frozen pitch,n ends up in hospital with a fractured skull or something similar

But they were OK to play on concrete hard plastic pitches back in't 80's, nobody seemed to bother then.
Just watching "Big Match Re-visited" on ITV4. Sheff Weds vs Arsenal from 79, pitch looks rock hard, and was half covered in snow in't first half. Game seemed to be played OK without anyone dying.

I have to agree to some extent. As long as the ground isnt rutted (which a pro pitch shouldn't be) a pitch hardened by frost is no worse than a rock hard pitch at the start of August or the end of May. Thing is that refs panic about being held accountable if Tommy Soft Pants twists his ankle and the club sue for it...

just seen this comment from the charlton groundsman regarding charlton v forest (as theyre having a pitch inspection)
'The ground soil temperature is normally three degrees colder than the air temperature, and the figures show that the ground soil in SE7 in recent days has plummeted as low as minus eight, on two occasions, and minus six'
if thats the case for all pitches, then you can assume that whatever temperature its forecast to be tonight n tomorrow night (-4) that the pitch will likely be colder than that, and that a pitch cover isnt guaranteed to keep a pitch frost free (as shown over the weekend and tuesday night)
