I have a mate who's doing a placement at Bournemouth as a fitness coach for the youth team, he has told me that Huddersfield have been looking very closely at there striker Brett Pitman. He is 20 and from the looks of his stats he bangs in the goals for fun. www.afcb.co.uk/page/ProfilesDetail/0,,10324~32551,00.html source is 80% reliable. I have never heard of him before but am confident Lee knows what hes after.

I wasn't aware of this lad so thanks for the heads up.
His goalscoring record isn't great - 7 in 39 appearances isn't great. To be fair though, most of his appearances are as a substitute.
I haven't seen him so I don't know but I have faith in our management and that they will pick us a good striker.

17 goals in 38 starts n 79 sub appearances isnt that great tbh,we need to be trying to get a proven scorer, not a 20yr old who isnt exactly doing sensational n who may not be able to cut the mustard in this league, let alone the championship

Brett Pitman was in a list of hot young prospects (one's to watch) produced by the Guardian on-line 2-3 seasons ago.
This list included Billy Sharp, Nicky Maynard, Ebanks-Blake and Jermain Beckford and was written by a respectable pro although I forget which one now.
BP has huge potential so not a bad spot by Huddersfield IMO.
Yes his scoring record at the moment is average (at best) but he is 20 just. If he had scored double or treble that amount than would already be at a Premiership club rather than with no disrespect to Bournemouth an average division 2 team.
The trick (without telling a granny how to suck eggs) is spot the potential, develop it and move forward from there. Crewe did it for years.

Steve Claridge? he's in the Guardians sports section fairly regularly. He valued Mirfin at about £350'000 a couple of seasons back if memory serves.

At the time 'Mirf' was looking one hell of a prospect and (I may stand corrected) Liverpool or similar was watching him.

From a Bournemouth supporting mate of mine:
"He has scored loads of goals in the reserves and at youth level but no to the same extent in the full team.
If you had mentioned this a few weeks ago then I would have been happy to see him go – he is very lazy and is not particularly strong if played isolated. Saying that he was man of the match (or should have been) in our last game and perhaps playing under our new manager (someone he has played alongside) might finally get the best out of him."
Doesn't sound like someone we should be going for IMO, whenever I've seen him he's looked distinctly average.

I can't say much for Brett Pitman, but I can tell you his cousin is an utter ****.
He kicked down my mates door when he was drunk, pretending to be the police.
