Just watched the replay again. Would anyone else agree that Williams bottles out when Akinfenwa makes to shoot, or like me would you want a defender to grit his teeth and get the ball at all costs? I would also point out that despite Collins & Robbo loosing the ball in Northamptons half, we should be strong enough to defend a long hoof from the goalie like that.

A proper defender would have thrown themselves in the way of that shot john terry style instead of turning their back on it and hoping their fat arse would get in the way

FGS will some of you lot get off the lads back. IMO he has improved steadily throughout this season.FWIW it appears that some fans will never give the lad any credit where and when it is due.

I agree, he is playing better now for us than he has at any other point but in that situation he let his side down imo

So that means that GR, MC, and possibly NC are all now vindicated. Mmmmmmmmm.

IMO you all just want to get on Williams' back all the time if that was Holdsworth or Clarke or another 'Fans Favourate' then it would not of been mentioned

No ones saying he hasn't played well in most games recently, but the thread is about THAT goal and how poor his attempt was to block it. A few players were culpable, Collins, Roberts, Clarke for losing out in the header ( though he may have been fouled) and not sticking with Akinfenwa afterwards. You can't expect any players at any level to never make a mistake, never mind so many in such a costly way as in that last moment of the game. Lets hope they all learn from it.

I see the boss said it was a bit disappointing that we stopped sending the ball round the sides of them in the last 15mins after using Cadermarteri's pace all game. Owt to do with using a big man up front and losing the movement we had? Don't want to be too criticle too early like but was Booth needed in that situation? Might have been better to have brought Berrett on and tried to go 4-5-1.
Still, we should've been good enough with the extra man.
I have feelings of a positive kind for the first time in a long while.

Totally agree. It's a team game, there's no need to assign blame for this particular event. It wasn't a single occurrence that led to the goal, there were a couple of little things that combined.

God some of you have got your head so far up roberts and collins arse that even though them giving the ball away cheaply you still find that the blame is pinned straight on williams if it was roberts in his position or holdsworth even you would not be reacting like tis at all!! Get a grip!!

I know what you mean here. there is a lot of mindless slagging off of Williams. This wasnt mindless slagging off for no reason. Have you watched the replay? what do you say about the casual way he turns his back and pull out of the tackle on Akinfenwa? I would have been scathing no matter which player it was.

Wasn't impressed by Williams at all on Saturday - way too slow. Give me Skarz any time.

100% skarzy, hes more raw talent than williams has in his little toe.... shame he got injured, and he was class at Leeds.

Ok. If we're going to start over analysing the game to victimize players why not mention our right hand side getting ripped to shreds early on and there guy missing a sitter.
Not even a mention of it so far. But then Williams doesn't play there so I guess that's why
