Why would they clash with Town fans? We leave the ground in both directions anyway. Plenty of other grounds where fans all mill together. Exactly, look at the exit for the away fans at Elland Road, straight out into a massive group of home fans.

Just wondering, but if we want home support en masse behind the goal, why cant the FM lower just be taken? It isn't 'full' at the moment, and wouldn't really mean anybody having to move out.

Hard to create an atmosphere in FM lower because it doesn't hold many people and is uncovered.
Simple choice, have south stand for Town fans creating a good atmosphere or been known up and down the land as being a club with an embarrasing lack of atmosphere. I've a West Brom friend who came here a few years ago and said he'd never been to a ground so lacking in passion.
I think the experiment should be taken one step further next season and we should have the south stand for all games. If we go back to not having the south stand I'll reconsider going to town matches. I'll be unwilling to pay £20 on Sats to sit in a library.

The FM Lower would be a good alternative if it could have some kind of roofing.....maybe some local roofing company with a Town fan as a boss could come up with a deal in return for some advertising etc.
The ticket prices in there would probably have to be reduced though as it would get the full brunt of the elements all year round.
Maybe it could be a terrace?....remove the seats in there all together?.....now that would get the club some attention!!....has any club ever put terracing back in since the Taylor Report?

I don't imagine the numbers wanting to be behind the goal would exceed the capcity of the FM lower, would it? And, why does it need a roof? Wear a hat!

I had a great time in the Pink Link. Can't see why away fans can't have half (or whole for bigger teams) of FM upper. The away fans are put in a little corner (upper) at Man U and Newcastle for example... does it not fit enough in or something? Mixing shouldn't be a problem!

Why dont the Cowshed Loyals give it a go all together in the FM lower one week? The "its uncovered" excuse is a bit weak. Or if you must be covered go in the FM upper. Sure the South Stand is the better option but there is a stand behind the goal available for you at every match. Apart from it being uncovered it would be bad for the acoustics of any singing done in there. The way the South Stand is designed is perfect for projecting the noise out into the whole stadium. In the North Stand the sound probably wouldn't even be heard in the upper tier. As far as I'm concerned there is no compromise. The South Stand has to be a home end on a permanent basis.

Well I'm a ST holder in the FM upper and from what I can see, it is pretty much sold out. It would mean moving a lot of people who are possibly quite happy up there. Just seems an obvious solution to use the relatively empty FM lower if you want to be behind a goal. I appreciate the limitations you say it has, but it seems to be the only solution that wouldn't involve moving everybody. Just a thought.

Do you think that if we organised a petition and got everyone who wants the South Stand to be a home section and sent it to the club/Hole it would do any good? Or do you think the club know already, and its just a case of convincing the saftey folk?

Or do you think the club know already, and its just a case of convincing the saftey folk? Rest assured those with any clout within HTFC know the benefits of the South Stand being for Town fans. BUT it isn't their decision. Thanks to good ol' Uncle Ken and his "protecting Town from future losses" bullsh*t, Town are merely tenanats and are firmly in the hands of their landlord (KSDL) and the stadium safety committee (John Robinson, police, et al). As with many things that are coming to fruition slowly (South Stand in the first place, exchange on the day, bottled beer, decent half time entertainment etc etc) it's important that the momentum continues to build and we continue to show the benefits that can be achieved. That in itself will then put pressure on Deano to in turn put pressure on his landlord to make sure the changes happen!

Deano mentioned how good the South Stand was in his comments on the O/S: He said that we were brilliant in creating the atmosphere, and helped really get behind the team. I reckon if it were up to him he would definitely use the South Stand as a home section for the vocal fans and Cowshed Loyals ;D
