A source from inside the club yesterday said we had had a bid pf 500k rejected by Bristol Rovers as they value him significantly higher.
We are also after a keeper & left back as priorities - Smithies is interesting at least one other club.

Why not just keep hold of smithies and then not have to look for another keeper. Can understand the left back but williams is finally starting to come good and we have 3 left backs at the moment. No chance of Lambert coming here, got premiership and championship teams after him.

I know swansea, forest and charlton have been linked with him in the championship

I certainly think Lambert is destined for a move up the leagues, think he'd be out of our league. Shame we didn't have money when both him and Holt were doing really well at Rochdale.

Didn't have money or weren't allowed money? Both available as patently good investments just when we were trying to do anything but invest. Just when we were lookking for that kind of player too. Thanks Ken

He will not be leaving Rovers for less than £1m.Personally I don't think he is worth it and would prefer Danny Graham.

I have heard from my contact over the hill!! that Man Ure are keeping an eye on Smithies. Most premier clubs will look at smithies, they all need a certain number of English players as of next season in the match day squad, so one may as well be back up keeper who is unlikely to be called upon.

He is a few years younger and represents better value for money. It is nice to have the luxury of reading about realistic potential signings that you would love to see playing for town rather than the uninspiring dross from last few transfer windows i.e. some crap left back from Grimsby, Warren Feeney, Zoltan Liptak etc. Might as well enjoy this while it last's.
