Get a striker in before Sat?
We've been linked with a lot of players but IMO we have dropped 4 points in three games (Oldham and Northampton) by not having a striker.
Im all for waiting and getting the right man but looking at the league we have a realistic chance of kicking on for a top four place, because we are battering teams without scoring the goals

We've just got to be patient. Its harder to sign a striker than any other type of player. Look at Ternent, didn't have a problem signing decent players like Roberts, Craney and Butler. But he failed in bids for Alan Lee, Clive Platt and Jon Stead (and probably more). We've just got to hope that eventually a deal comes off, but the last thing we want to do is panic, and pay way over the odds or get someone in who isn't good enough.

We need two before the end of the window, and its the 21st today. It's getting worrying, but I still have faith in Clark.

12 days (i think!) until the transfer window closes. This is ample time for Clark to sign the right person. As the closure of the window gets ever nearer, so clubs will start to think that maybe the last offer was actually a fair and useful price. This will result in the club getting on the blower and begging us to take their star striker off them. At least, that's how it's playing out in my deluded reality!!

We need to be patient. Id rather wait until summer and get who we really want - not panic buys or players to please the fans. This is only my opinion but any position we finish in this season inside the top 10 will be a bonus, for me especially when you consider where we were in November and how I was feeling about the season. Its nice we've now got a bit of momentum but I'm not getting over ambitous. Play-offs = bonus and nice to extend the season/big games but automatic is unrealistic.
I'm more excited about next season!

I see your points buddy, but I certainly don't see top 10 as a bonus, I see top 6 as a necessity!! YES, we had a shite start, but looking at where we are in the table now, the season ticket sales, the squad, the management teams and the potential we have, I don't think we should settle for less. Like you, I am more excited about next season...........in the Championship!!!!!!!!!!!

If we don't get one before Thursday about 3.30pm, I wouldn't expect one before Saturday.
I can't see us announcing a striker on a Friday in the middle of the season, unless we had a weekend off.
So I'd say we have today and tomorrow to hear something or we won't get one by Saturday.

Or the Saturday after that as well!...With the amount of players we have been linked with {True or not} the refusals are getting annoying..If you want a particular Player, and get turned down initially, you improve the offer and persevere..According to the rumour mill,Lee Clark must be flitting about like a Butterfly, settling for a second, and then buggering off to the next plant. This type of action,to me,is true of someone out of his depth, and with no firm idea what sort of player he wants....if he,s put in a firm offer for Dickinson, whats the delay?..Its all very frustrating!

they really need to get rid of the transfer window in my opinion-if you're a club in need of cash desperately quickly, and its october, you have to wait until january to get someone off the wage bill and a transfer fee coming in,which can screw you big time, and selling clubs know they can raise the price they want for the player because they know clubs only have a month in which to buy players, and if theyre that desperate, they know the buying clubs will offer silly money

Couldn't disagree more. I'd say he'd be more out of his depth if he was sticking with the same potential signings and offering more and more each time. He knows we need a striker; you don't get a striker in the middle of a season by highlighting one player and going for him and him alone. I'm also at odds as to what you're expecting Clark to do. We had a bid rejected from Carlisle for Graham and it seems as though we decided not to make another bid (given that it's all gone quiet for all clubs on the Graham front, my perception is that someone's agreed to sign him in the summer; he can negotiate with other clubs now. Either that or we're waiting until Carlisle lower their estimations later in the window). Porter rejected us and as far as I'm concerned they're the only two offers that we've definately made; we can hardly stick around trying to convince a player that doesn't want to come or convince a club that are charging over the odds for a player that is out of contract in the summer, can we? I'd like to echo the sentiments of above; it's better not to panic and pay loads and/or get someone crap in. But I'd still say that even if we can't find the ideal player, it'd still be worthwhile us getting someone in on loan, even if it's someone along the lines of Kevin Kyle he'd provide more than the Jevons-Parker partnership.

I,m expecting him {or the club}to come clean..We can,t possibly sign every player we are linked with...If Kevin Phillips is 1st choice then all the others are fill-ins,and each one that turns us down is further down that list..In my opinon our football club is only High Profile to us Fans who have supported it for Years of disappointment, and from the amount of targets that have knocked us back, it shows that nothing has changed, even with a new management team in place.
