Thought I would share what I have been told with you all. Not going to claim it's from someone in the know but been told 2 strikers to sign next week, both from Championship clubs one on loan and the other on a free, waiting for one to get over a slight injury and the other one waiting for them to get the striker in they are after. Both signings will impress us if they come off. Sorry to be blunt Looks like no striker in for Leicester if this is the case

If the person you heard this from isn't in the know, how come you can't tell us the players' names?
(Assuming you know yourself, of course).

My honest gut feeling is that we will pull off the Phillips deal - don't ask me why - I have no contacts at the club (not now anyway ) - it's a pure "Gut feeling" I would think that Dickinson could sign too, but I can't understand what the hold up is on that one - personal terms?? Derby want to get rid - if the rumours are true, we've bid, whats the problem (salary?) Can't see that we would offer £1m for Gallagher

I'd be delighted with Phillips and Sharp, but with the amount of crap that's spouted on this board, I refuse to believe anything till I see the player holding the blue and white shirt!

Gallagher is injured. As is Phillips. Didn't KP play last week? I saw him on The Championship, or is it from that game? Injured or not it is irrelevant as he won't come this season, and probably not next season either unless Brum get promoted/sign some younger strikers or both.

Did anyone else notice Phillips' lack of celebration when Brum scored - he just seemed to stand still in the penalty area when his team mates all celebrated in front of the Brum fans??? Am I reading too much into things. I wish we would sign someone soon, this is doing my head in

my source says the club have spoke to phillips, but we really cant afford his fees/ his wages. he'd have to come on 'mates rates' for clarky - up to him if he does or not.

I've been thinking about Billy Sharp being one of the targets for a while. He would be a fabulous signing. Sheff Utd fans love him, but it's just not happening in front of the net for him. The perfect win win situation. Just adding my thoughts with general conversation rather than knowing anything.

Dicko back on loan until the end of the season (with an option to buy)?
Sounds sensible to me...

One of these days one of these rumours will come true and the person who first posted about it will be able to claim "I told you so!". And the probability is, it was probably just wild speculation by that person as well.
P.S. Don't tell anyone, but a source told me that Town have made a £1 million bid for little known striker Alf Hart of Stenhousemuir, but he's turned Town down because he sees greater potential with Newi Cefn Druids!

Turnip Turnent was a shit manager but he could sell the club to prospective players well, do you think this is Lee Clarkes weak point???

Ternent had just as much trouble trying to get a striker. Missed out on Alan Lee, Clive Platt and Jon Stead. We just have to be patient, it's hard signing strikers in January, its more likely that deals will happen nearer the deadline.

Who said players keep turning us down? Only one has (porter), our problem is getting the club to accept the fee put forward!

Iv heard 3 players from the championship have turned us down because they didn't want to drop down a division.
It just hasn't been made public like carlisle and motherwell because there was no fee involved?

NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It's a League 1 manager asking players of Championship quality to play for us!!! Why would they? Because we're the best team in the world? No we're not. Because we are the best team in the league? No we're not. Because we're sure to be promoted? No we're not. Because we have the biggest following in the league? No we don't. Because we can offer them more money than anyone else? No we can't.
Lee Clark "I appreciate that you are of Championship quality and that a few Championship teams are interested in you but this is the thing....why not come up/down/across to Huddersfield and play in League 1?" Player: "Well what's in it for me?" Lee Clark "Possible another year in league 1 after this, but I was a great player, come on, it'll be a laugh" Player "Actually, I'll probably just stick around here at this higher positioned club where I'm settled or maybe transfer to one of the Championship clubs that are interested in me" Lee Clark "I don't get it"
Ok, I little exagerated, and I don't mean to belittle LC at ALL. But the FACT is we are in League 1 and every one of the rumoured targets could go to a bigger/better club.
Please don't take offense as I love our club as much as the next man. I just think a lot of people need to wake up and realise who we actually are and where we are.

If Championship players are not getting in the first team, then quite often they drop down a division to get first team football!
Parker, Roberts, Lucketti, Unsworth,Jevons,Williams, (Not the best looking list i know) but they all dropped down for first team football!!!

I just think a lot of people need to wake up and realise who we actually are and where we are. Completely agree with you. Like it or not, we are currently perceived as being a small club, smaller than Blackpool, smaller than Barnsley, even in some eyes smaller than Oldham - paraphrased quote from Motherwell board re: Porter, "why would he want to go to Huddersfield, it would be a backward step from where he was before (Oldham)" This is because it is ages since we were in the Championship. Even one season at a higher level changes peoples perceptions, however unsuccessful that season was. That makes it very hard to persuade players who are currently playing at a higher level to come here, especially so if they are currently darn sarth. Sharp would be a great signing and more likely to come because he is relatively local, but there is so much speculation that who knows what is or isn't true. It's hard, but we just have to be patient.

Its because Clark is after quality players, not second best as he put it. Its never going to be easy to persuade someone who Clark rates to be a Championship standard player to drop to League 1, but thats the task he has set himself and I'm sure he and his staff will make a success of it before the deadline

As my Gran was forever reminding us as kids "Patience is a virtue that has to be cultivated".So I`ll patiently wait until Clark gets the players he wants and let him grow into his job.
