Just wanted to get this back to the top of the page because the title makes it the most relevant post of the day. None of what's happening would be possible without Deano.

The Card Factory in Oldham shopping centre has gone bust and closed down. Someone else told me one had closed down near them. Hope hes not gonna be going out of business anytime soon. Do the card factory sell "happy diwali" cards ??

I am in the greetings card business as National sales manager for a greeting card publisher.
I can confirm that Card Factory is huge and going from strength to strength. Clintons are struggling as are certain other Yorkshire based card companies. Why? Card Factory have taken huge chunks of the market away from them.
Card Connections have not gone bust either, nor does Dean have anything to do with them. Card Connection are a franchised organisation that was bought by UK Greetings (british arm of American Greetings) - these are the biggest publishers in the world bar none.
UK Greetings (say on the back Carlton Cards) supply supermarkets etc whilst Card Connection franchisees supply convenience stores, forecourts etc.
Dean's company recently acquired the Card Wharehouse chain of stores (which was his main high st competition in terms of discounted/value card shops) that had gone into administration. As part of this he will close down stores in the same town's that are competing against each other and just keep open the profitable ones.
In short he has massive market share now on the high st.

You're quite right Harrogate. Think I just had a senior moment when I said card connection when I meant card wharehouse. I should know as Card connection is one of my regular clients!! LOL Dean didn't buy the whole Card Wharehouse company though did he? Just around 80 of their 500 or so stores I heard.
